Sandstone Mountain is about the only real grade I know east of the Mississippi. But I dont get any closer to the north east than Cleveland, OH... So I've never been through the mountain country of PA

Anyone that has kids can probably relate to this...
Obviously having a 2 year old that refuses to sleep anywhere other than moms bed can cause some difficulties in the parents "intimate relations" department.
The immediate solution until the child can be broke of this habit??? Make sure the truck is in the drive at least 2 or 3 times a month!!!... LolD.Tibbitt, 650cat425, WesternPlains and 3 others Thank this. -
The thought behind that comes to mind when the weatherman is crying about a life ending blizzard to hit chicago and people just jump in the car to go to work as normal. Never mind 4 feet and wonder wtf. /Paraphrasing.
In the PA there are coal roads, little single lane routes and there is the Seven Mountains Hill. 8% 5 miles winding down. I mean winding. US 322.]
There is one hill near Bethlehem PA that T intersections at a river at the very bottom. I had a container export germany load of Peanut Butter and Jelly and it was packed HEAVY. The #### truck got away from me on that last mile and half vertical drop to the river. Fortunately that one was the beloved 89' volvo which turned out to be my last trip and she stopped for me at the bottom about 20 yards from the water and stone wall. The brakes were glazed and the drums ruined all around.
Tsk, preventable. But she did stop for me. I was not sure. That company went out of business a month later. I did examine 8k filings and other industry type financing and so on over the years and its almost as if they never Existed. I might contact Joppa's Chamber of Commerce to see if they still remember that history there. If I was faced with a loss of the load, loss of the tractor and probably killing or chopping along the way... I needed that rig to stop. She did.
Dont need to do any more stops now in the salvage lot. The container? thats Hamburg's problem. They have mountains of tires and people to bolt them on.RidgeRunner731, D.Tibbitt, 650cat425 and 2 others Thank this. -
Last post for the night, might as well be useful.
Eastern OK from roughly I-44-I-40 east to the state line will be big hail country. Along with the expected violence.
Winds from roughly KC down to around Tyler TX with the center based near Hope AR on I-30 For Arkansas show time will be late this evening (Tues 7 PM I guess and for US 67-I40 memphs bymidnight into wed, pine bluff to Shreveport by 4 am.
They expect a organized line as the night goes on tonight. But before the storms combine and feed on each other, lonely monsters will doodle a tornado or two. Eventually all combine to bowwave all the way across the deep south.
Wind is the biggest danger. Don't come this way loaded or empty. We have 130 mph shingles on 30 pound felt so bring it.D.Tibbitt, 650cat425, WesternPlains and 2 others Thank this. -

I am very petite... think I may have gained a few lbs since I stopped trucking last year.... don't know... probably less than 4lbs... very hard to gain weight... but I'm almost sure will lose it again when I go back trucking someday...
