Steer/Axle Weight Question

    I know Ohio and Michigan will bust your rearend if you exceed either.

    They will put portables under the steer too.

    That hasn’t been my experience in Missouri. Been weighed multiple times with a 10k front end with 12k tires and they never once checked the weight rating of the axle. They always checked the rating of the tires though. ymmv

    What if the opposite is how it is axel rated for 12000 n tires for 13500??

    Something I read said something about certain axels are rated for from 8000lbs to 16000 lbs any truth to that

    You evën get a 20 000lbs axle.

    Yeah the tag in the center of the beam will give the data. A spicer i-75 is a 7500 lb axle for instance. I think i-125 would be a 12,500.

    Did Michigan finally change that. For years they went off the tire rating. Didn't care about the axle. Never made sense to me. Was a common thing to have oversize wheels and tires on a 12000lbs front axle. Even if you couldn't get the weight up there it was better to get dinged with a misload rather than an overweight lol.

    Well is been since 13,14 that I had my last altercation with the great state. He looked at door tag and told I was close on steers. Warned me for it, wrote me a over weight for drives.
