I'm also to be honest not real thrilled with the situation single member tax rate on my adjusted earnings when I do show profits...
I'm starting to wonder if the best way forward is to go s-corp. As a s-corp I would have gotten my full amount requested as example..Midwest Trucker and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
crocky and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Fact of the matter is that if one has a low Net Profit on line 31 of Schedule C DUE to excessive expenses on equipment repair, etc, they're not making enough money on the revenue side (in my opinion) to even assume the risk & liability of being in business in the first place. Unless of course it's just a hobbyLast edited: May 5, 2020

I also file as an S Corp. Using that filing status is something a business has to apply for and receive permission from the IRS to obtain. There is much information available online or through consultation regarding the benefits of doing so.

If you sale or trade the equipment before the normal use of life depreciation is completed, you have to "recapture" the amount taken advantage of through accelerated depreciation in the year it was disposed of.
