How many hours do you drive ? I was told I needed to utilize my hours better after shutting down with 1 hour 47 minutes remaining to drive..what ?

If I do long haul, it's usually 10.5-11hrs, always squeeze as much as possible

It's all about parking. If I could throw down a space anywhere, anytime, I'd run my clock out.

Depends where ya going when ya need to be there. If ur on time for pickup and delivery who cares if ya drive 5 hours or 11

What the others have said. There is no 11.25 hour rule. You try to max out hours and find you've no place to park and you have to drive over hours to park, the dispatcher will not back you or pay a fine or get a mark on his cdl, you will. Elogs are a double edged sword. They limit us but can be used to limit companies pushing you.

Alot of variables as stated above, location being the biggest one. Many times it's counter-productive to stretch your clock out. All depends on how it effects your trip. An hour 47 is reasonable though.

Right now I have 55 minutes and still being loaded. But I have been here before so I knew I could park on the street.
Usually I like to stop with an hour left in case the truck stop or rest area is full or closed I can make it to the next one.
Dispatch will push you and safety will fire you.

Also appointments matter. No point in getting there 24 hours early if you are going to be sitting at the truck stop all that time. Not even enough to get a 34. Might as well take a few easy days to average your 70 so you can push harder later in the week if needed.

Now if you can deliver early, yes learn how to trip plan. My typical plan was if I knew the area and knew there is likely parking I'd push the 11 as much as I could. If I was in an area where I would have to find parking I would trip plan for a 10 hour drive to give a bit of cushion.

Ask dispatch who's driving this truck... Youre the captain of that ship. As long as you are not late for appointments then tell them to shove it.
