It sho' feels good to be home in Waxahachie\%q%@@@@__@\¹\|%11¹ even if it is just for the night again. Pulled up to the house and my little boy and my beautiful wife were standing there to greet me. There is not a better feeling in the world to me knowing that after my long days away from home I have them to come home to.

@Superhauler I felt embarrassed posting my 3350 on 1500ish miles, bit less but I'll call it that. Guy was jerking my chain like i was fudging that already low # lol. That was loaded both ways minimal DH miles.

The same dude that posted his 1.16mi on 3000mi has some balls for posting that on ttr I'll give him that at least. Prob ####### deep in debt, think he started in 18 when rates were stellar and thought this is gon be easy how do ppl fail? You can't entirely blame the brokers gouging when fellow o/o are hauling it that cheap in a race to the bottom. Even with next to zero overhead it's a hard one to swallow.

Most of you here have way way more experience and expertise than our 6 months running the boards.

The 7-8 sometimes 10 loads a week that's opens up this wk pays 700 on 168. The 2nd load we hauled for them was a messed up apt time so the gave us 800 on that one. Realistically you think the broker has that for 950-1000? More? This place said we could have our own 2 docks to drop trailers to pre load.

Is it true if the shipper solicits you to handle the acct and not the other way round then is it legal to then get hooked direct. In the off chance the broker would go after you.

We've really been looking hard at getting our brokerage business. I fig 10-12% is what i would take not 20-30+ or having guys leased to us to cover freight but not sure about that. The shipper told us he wishes we had more trucks. Do so many people really #### where they eat? We don't do anything special, old school way of your word is your bond.
Going back to flats possibly. Easy stuff

That’s a big deal having good relations with in-laws. :)

That’s not particularly difficult though when all parties are blue collar people.

Now, for some coal miner’s son trying to win the hand of a judge’s daughter on the other hand? Kenny Rogers wrote a song about that. :biggrin_25523:

I got hooked up a little over 13 yrs ago with an individual that knows his stuff. Been leased to this company for 14 yrs. Working with him. I can count on one hand the "broker loads" I've hauled. There is a group of us that work under a different contract through the company than others do. We work directly with a couple of customers. This year will be a bust with what's going on. But it isn't the main reason. There is always a down year cycle every so many yrs. We knew this was going to be the year way back from last year. This is the time all of us here rebuild replace re-boot to get ready for when it kicks off. I will do what I do till the boy we work with quits or i quit. Six more years i can retire at 65. I have a low dedt ratio. 22%. That will drop to 0% in two yrs. Trucking isn't my only income. This is the first time I have ever taken time off 100%. but family health issues takes first priority.

my plan is to get into flipping houses and having a few rental properties. Buy my parents 2400 sqft house hopefully within a yr or 2 (no debt here either) while they snowbird in winter. Just turned 59 yesterday. I don't wanna get any bigger than 5-6 trucks and 12-15 wagons.

And you think profit margins in trucking are thin, just wait. You need to beable to do about 90% of the work yourself. Your gonna get a hard lesson. Hope it works however for you.
