How’s your money situation? Can you afford to wait 60-90 days for your money from your direct customers? If you’ll have to factor you’ll probably give up more money than if you had taken a broker load. Just something to think about before you jump in on direct freight.
Deere hunter, Dave_in_AZ, Rubber duck kw and 1 other person Thank this. -
Look finance wise I am in great shape. The short answer is yes, I can wait it out or I have several 3% factoring company that I can go to more than any other value they tell me if the customer is creditworthy.
I get my fuel at almost 40 cents discount on my credit card at a local gas station bobtailing without fuel card compared to the truck stops. I dive maybe 200-300 miles a day that I get over $4 per mile plus detention for short hauls and I don't tear up my truck driving 600 miles day. I get 12-hour driving HoS with no 30-minute break and 15 hours of on-duty with 8-hour daily reset and 70 hours of week on-duty time in Texas.
I am in a great place to compete with anyone and make some decent dough.Last edited: May 9, 2020

Another thought.....try and pick up one or two more trailers if the price is right and then you could drop and hook so they don’t have to live load you. That may be appealing to some companies as you pitch your services to a business.

Actually, I am. That is another differentiator I have. Megas key to success is no to low labor cost and more importantly their scams with their cheat company drivers out of their money and the lease-purchase OO that subsidizes company truck cost thus allowing them to compete at a lower cost of running a semi. Though at a 95+% turnover rate that leaves them wide open for lack of quality of service angle for independents to compete on. Digital platforms like Uber and Convoy even amazon think by duping and failing miserably at it by pushing a pie in the sky that their technology lowers the total cost of truck ownership.
What I am trying to tell you are my differentiators and competitive advantages in sales battleground situations that are in my favor to win loads against them.Last edited: May 9, 2020
