She started passing along the useful tidbits of information last week. I’m trying to catch her in a lie.

Hmmm....I’ve gotten all EXCEPT the high wind warnings. Would’ve loved that this morning. LOL.

Some comedy (sarcasm) that took place yesterday at the Richmond yard. I was taking my 10 parked in the bobtail section, first truck from the building facing the reefers. I was sitting in my truck doing paperwork and just enjoying the comings and goings of a busy Friday at the RVA yard. I saw @RebelChick driving around, a few office people smoking their life away, and other time killing things. I happen to look up and see a L/O pull in with a reefer. Across from me is a double open spot, then a trailer, then another empty spot. In front of that single empty spot by the fuel tanks is a truck and trailer, running. I notice the driver get out and go inside.

Now look, I’ll help anyone at any time. I’m not that much of a grumpy ahole that I can’t take 5 minutes out of my day to help someone back in. The L/O dude decided he wants to practice his backing, and decided to hit the single spot with the stationary truck and trailer in just enough the wrong spot. Well, after his third attempt at practicing his backing, with the wrong set up, I get out and offer some help. The first thing I mentioned to him was that it would be much easier for him to hit the double hole away from the stationary object called a truck and trailer. Well, you would have thought that I got caught with his wife, ran off with his dog, or stole his last Twinkie. Dude came unglued with me and told me to mind my own business. I politely said fine and went back to my truck. When I got there, I picked up my phone, opened the window and put the camera on video. Not 2 minutes later, I was getting a drink out of my fridge when I heard crunch, snap and what was quite familiar, the sound of fiberglass on fiberglass. Now I started recording. What does homie do? Finally gets the trailer in the hole, disconnects, pulls out and goes down to the end of the lot, making sure he avoided the broken headlight and assorted other pieces of the truck he hit laying on the ground. Dude never stopped and left.

Here’s where it gets dicey on my part. I was told 2 weeks ago that my longevity raise was put on hold because of this virus, it’s been 2 weeks and I’ve accepted the decision. Don’t like it, but I get it. Now this box of rocks, hits another truck, damages that truck and his, and leaves. Well, all I see is more damage to the company and maybe another reason I don’t get my raise. I was pissed. I took my phone with the video, and went down to safety and showed it to our safety manager. He went ballistic. He saw the truck number on the video and called the driver. I went to my truck, he waited for the L/O to get up to the pile of assorted broken truck parts, and I went and hooked up to my trailer. I don’t know what happened to that L/O, but all I was thinking about is the raise I was due being put on hold. What would I have done? Fired him for hit and run and not reporting it to the company, but that’s me, if I had got my raise, I probably would have looked at it differently. I’m sure someone will say I should have stayed out of it, but, that’s not me, you screw up, own it.

IMO you absolutely did the right thing, that guy obviously has no moral compass. We all screw up, man up report it, and deal with the consequences. Now the powers that be know they can’t trust this guy. I would venture to guess he’s the same guy that drops trailers with issues that need to be addressed, but let’s others deal with issues, because he “ain’t got time for that “

@JohnBoy , did you see how quickly I came and went off that dang yard? I hate having to go there multiple times a day, every day. :/ I got the old, “If you want to go home a little early, you can take this load for tomorrow.” bit, which I ended up not getting home early at all. I didn’t see the hilarity you watched, but did see a guy opt to park his trl in front of the fuel island when there were many open spots earlier this week. Even made a remark about it to the guy showing all our new hires around. Was in a hurry that day or probably would said it to the driver myself. Then again, sad to say, most of the time, it’s just not worth it.

Oh, and I wake up this morning at 6:30 am to a 1:45 am text from my DM (who is off on the weekends) asking me what happened yesterday to my HOT HOT HOT Hill load. Why was I late...blah blah blah. This was my response: “Why in the hell were you texting me at 2 am? If you wanted/needed to know right at that moment, you should have called night dispatch. It’s all documented. But, I’ll give you a bit of a hint, you know the saying that you don’t #### with Mother Nature?” I’m so over that guy.

    You expected otherwise?

After all, he’s a lease op, and we’re all just company schlubs. WE don’t tell HIM what to do. That’s not politically correct. HE tells US what to do. Learn your place in the pecking order.
