Depends on the hill.
If I’m light and it’s a 5 mile climb, one side fatso because I’m coming around.
But if it’s a small one and I know he’ll be long gone soon after cresting it I’ll wait.

You can acknowledge with your interrupter switch that flashes your marker lights, or the turn on the 4 ways on for a couple seconds. I've even seen some guys alternate the turn signals a few times.
Whatever you do don't pass a truck and hit the brakes.Last edited: May 9, 2020

It's just humor....relax.
i find it amazing whenever people my age or older can't say thank you, excuse me, or your welcome.
I got nothing for truck manners other then...don't be an idiot and use commonsense.
Sirscrapntruckalot - It's official people are out an about again...an their still weird if not weirder.dwells40 and Snow Hater Thank this. -
Your trash, piss bottles, #### bags go in trash cans or dumpsters. Not in the parking lot or shoulder of the road.
If your at one of those fun DCs with way to many trucks, don't block the whole lane so no one can get through or get out of their dock.
Treat other drivers like you would want another driver treat you.Brettj3876, 51.50, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I appreciate a Professional Driver that doesn’t cut back in too soon, after passing. The Real Pros wait for an optional blink. It’s more about being considerate of others comfort level. I’ve had my windshield hit by rocks so many times by passing vehicles. Only a Rookie or an Idiot cuts back in too soon.

Sure there is - 15 minutes waiting for the pump to clear, 8 minutes to fuel, 7 minutes to pee, get coffee and be gone, 7 minutes waiting for some guy to back into the spots across from the fuel island instead of hitting a pull thru in the next row. -
RDBG, dwells40 and Snow Hater Thank this.

On a serious note - flashing your lights to bring someone over can open you to liability.
Al is on the right and being passed by big truck Bob. Bob clears, Al flashes his lights, Crazy Carl Cardriver sees a gap and goes for it, cutting in front of Al just as Bob moves over. Carl freaks, loses control and wrecks all three of them. Bob blames Al - "he said it was safe".
Al will beat the case, but it will take time and money to do so. -
1. When being passed by a truck turn your lights off and on if at night the opposite in daylight, to indicate when to safely pull in.
2. When passing a truck and the driver indicates with his lights it's safe to pull in hit your light interrupter button twice or hit your flashers and let them blink twice to say thank you.
3. Because of the auto brake feature on newer trucks do not pull in tight after passing or until signalled it's safe so as not to trigger the #^&%$# brake system in the truck you passed.
4. When passing on a multi lane highway do not pull in until signaled by the truck's headlights or until at least a truck length past.
5. When meeting oncoming traffic at night dim your lights a minimum of 1/4 mile away. Don't be a douche if someone flicks their lights at you. It's not personal, your lights appear bright to them and they're checking to see if you could turn them down.
6. Move over when you see a truck on the shoulder if possible. If not slow down to 45. (Or whatever your state requires.)
7. Don' t slide your tandems on the scale and then leave your truck sitting on the scale to go in and get your scale ticket.
8. If you have a slow truck, a heavy load or see traffic coming fast on a two lane highway, do not turn on to that 2 lane highway when you know you know you won't be a rolling roadblock leading a line of ticked off drivers.
9. Your trash, piss bottles, #### bags go in trash cans or dumpsters. Not in the parking lot or shoulder of the road. Empty the liquids in a toilet or at least on the grass.
10. If you're on a two lane highway and you're being passed by a truck that's just a bit faster than you back off a little so they can get back in quicker.
11. If you are 1 mile or less from your exit you don't have time to pass another truck and you will miss your exit if you do.
12. Know where the state scales are. (You can find the locations in the Rand McNally Trucker's atlas.) If you're passing and miss the exit be prepared to be pulled over and spend YOUR money. Your company isn't going to pay for your poor planning.
13. Just turning on your turn signal doesn't require anyone to make room for you. Pay attention and find your space.
14. Lazy jerks hang out in the middle lane just because there is a middle lane. However, it may be necessary to move over to the middle lane to avoid merging traffic. Choose wisely.
15. Yield to backing trucks.
16. Use your 4-way flashers when backing.
17. There is no reason to leave your truck parked at a fuel pump. Pull forward before you leave the truck and get back quickly. Park somewhere else to take your 30.
18. There is one legitimate reason to leave your truck while you are waiting behind another truck at the fuel pump. Crapping yourself is the only legitimate reason to do so. Get back to your truck ASAP.
19. THERE IS NO REASON TO EVER TAKE A 30 MINUTE BREAK AT THE FUEL PUMP! EVER!
20. Don't park on the road's shoulder for anything but an emergency. You being sleepy is not an emergency. Plan your trip better.
21. If you're a crowded distribution center with way to many trucks, don't block the traffic lane so no one can get through or get out of their dock. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR TRUCK!
22. Turn off your lights when entering a parking area at night, unless the lot is not lit.
23. Treat other drivers like you would want another driver treat you.Last edited: May 10, 2020
