Wow this is interesting. You worry about going into shady neighborhoods while I worry about people calling the cops on me while am delivering cars to nice neighborhoods. Happened 3 times so far. Last one the cop apologized. You can figure out the rest. I don't carry a gun for this reason. I also go into shady neighborhoods also. As long as its in the daytime you should be fine. Its gotten a point where I tell all my pov customers to get a certified check from the bank instead of cash. I read a story about cops confiscating cash found in vehicles they stopped and that changed my mind about having cash in the truck. If you aren't comfortable with the environment talk nicely to the customer and have them meet you at a safe place. Am always polite and respectful. Works all the time. But yes cash is king and this picture attached is why I love car hauling. Thats my reward for going to California. Stay safe.

A few thoughts,
First this is a lie - "The public does not support concealed carry laws nor the rights we have to use guns in defense."
If the public didn't support it, why are there states with shall issue laws?
Here in my state, we have cops telling people to get their concealed weapons permit and we have constitutional open carry law with only a few people freaking out.
A bit of advice, my neighbor, former FBI and county sheriff gave my kids advice about firearm use when defending themselves and it applies to the op and others here. What he said is the criminal use firearms daily so they are confident in what they are doing where you don't, you may react to their presence but try to stay calm and do what the they say because they will kill you faster than you can pull the weapon.
By the way, and this may cross the line with politics (if not allowed, admins can remove it), but the law allowing retired cops to carry anywhere craps all over my rights to carry anywhere, the last time I read the 2nd doesn't have qualifiers in it, we are all equal PERIOD! Edit: we all should have this right, no exceptions and no qualifiers.
The retired cops I known in the past were dangerous with a weapon, one of them killed a kid who appeared to have a weapon coming towards him, he was acting like he was a cop but the kid end up with a ratchet in his hands, -
I live in a constitutional carry state so never had to look into ccw permits. Appreciate all the info about that.
I may be new to trucking, but I wasn’t born yesterday. I’m aware of the consequences of taking human life. Don’t need a #### lecture on it. And if some criminal takes my life, so be it. Just means my ticket came up.
Also curious, what pellet gun is used to hunt bison? I know there’s some 50 rifles but not aware of a pistol with that much power.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
Unless you got a hard hit to the neck. No ones going to drop to the floor when you throw a knife at them and chances are it might slice instead of stab unless that sucker is ridiculously sharp.

They're now offering a lightweight aluminum Mark XIX .357 called the L5. I kinda want one.
Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
Get your CCW.
Find out the different rules for different states.
Don't go to Canada.
Get three lock boxes. One for ammo, one for frame and one for slide. In states that have strict gun laws disassemble your pistol and separate it and the ammo. Remember that magazines and speed loaders are considered parts of the firearm and should not be kept with the ammo.
Never ever voluntarily tell law enforcement that you have anything on your truck. Remember if they have probable cause they're not asking anyway.
Now doing all this won't protect you from an overzealous law enforcement agent in a blue state. But it will show that you tried to follow the rules and I believe will help in court.
I'll hand the keys to the truck over before I'd shoot someone. But the world has changed, now too many bad guys what to permanently hurt or kill you just because they can.
To those that say "I never needed a gun", I'd like to say that I never needed a helmet when riding a motorcycle. But I think I'll keep using one just in case things go wrong.
Good luck out there.Ugly Brute, TripleSix and Upinsmoke Thank this. -
I always have to wonder what kind of cop would quit to be a truck driver, or want to supplement their retirement with a truck driving job.Upinsmoke Thanks this.

WTF does that even mean?
He's probably not too different from the guy who went to a reputable college, has a degree, worked in an office while wearing a suit and tie and finally came home one day and started yelling at the dogs, the wife and the kids a little too much. Yeah, probably exactly that kinda' guy.
That's one of the most ignorant posts I've read on this forum in a long, long time.
