You guys telling me the biggest brokers don’t set spot market rates ?

every midsize broker and small mom and pop shops emulate big brokerage contracts, the same contracts that you sign away rights.

    that in itself is controlling.

It’s all about how to screw the little guy.

What’s the market share controlled by the big brokers? There’s no way the top 4 brokerages control 85% of the trucking market, and the four packers I listed control 85% of the finished beef market.

When we as truckers have options and can work without brokers you can’t really compare our industry to one that literally has one option for when your calves are grown, and that one option is controlled by 4 companies.

Aren’t truck rates based on rail rates?

if rail rates goes up truck rates goes up? Correct?

If rail rates goes down truck rates go down?

    correct?

I don’t know the answer you will give but let’s for the sake of argument ask this question:

If the truck rates are based on rail rates who controls the rails?

in that video posted earlier, it was said JB Hunt BSNF and Walmart have controls over it.

Couldn’t one argue that J.B. Hunt has actively some how managed to influence trucking rates?

Anyone can influence rates. If you have direct customers and someone comes in and cuts the rate to get the work they just influenced your rate. Your rate stays the same and you move on, or you see if you can squeeze pennies and match them to keep the work. Either way, your business just changed.

That guy on YouTube likes to try and sound like he knows what he’s talking about, but you could tell by his lack of responses to the broker in that last video he is somewhat clueless as to how everything works. Even if those three are in cahoots it’s still tough to say they control the industry because how many guys out there are like me? How many guys move things that aren’t general freight? How many guys are there like me that have never once had a broker load on my truck? They don’t control enough to say they control the industry.

What? Your competition doesn’t influence your rates?
