This ain't ending any time soon.
Stimulus, PPP, EIDL, deferment of equipment payments, insurance premiums, deferment of personal loans, including mortgages, rents and car payments, created legitimate survival conditions in which hauling cheap freight looks more sustainable than otherwise anyone would imagine.
The conditions under which, not only it is possible to sit at home and wait for better times but also wait for better times while hauling cheap freight. Virtually, the hand outs and relief tools provided enough money to be able to run for 1 dol per mile for quite some time.

Unless there is an increase in volume, the cheap freight market is not going anywhere.

Door number 3 - They're just f lazy. Every time there's a slight down turn i get six phone calls, 5 from people that can't form complete sentences.

Must be your Landstar niche. They always preach; find your niche, find your niche...

The only niche is dry van. Rates are just eking their way back up.

Their's still a truckload of garbage, but their always is.

Brettj3876 and Scooter Jones Thank this.

    Especially...
It takes a skill to find a dry van niche.

I just went to Florida pretty cheap. Probably net $1600. Been at this TA since Monday afternoon.

Planned out until the 20th. Had to 34 here, or I'd not make it.

This next week will net more.

Most guys will say it's too cheap. It's too hard.

It's too cheap and too hard.

    I'm not gonna do that.

    Well, here we are.

Brettj3876 and Scooter Jones Thank this.

Every morning during the local (our Local tv station is 100+ miles away in Shreveport) has been running an ad for a Arkansas trucking company, not JB, begging for drivers. My niece mentioned that she has seen the same ad on a Little Rock station. Local to me companies are doing radio ads. Those 88,000 laid off drivers want to work the jobs are out there.
