For someone to write this type of comment on the same day they joined this forum or an old member in a new persona? This attitude will not end well for you. You seem to be using this "everybody is doing it" defense! Yes, at some point every member of this forum EVEN the staff have violated some aspect of law. I know I have. During my driving career, I have had many speeding tickets and I busted the HOS rules from time to time. The thing is when it comes to driving the difference is the seriousness on the charge. Driving while souced and/or reckless is MUCH more serious than going a few miles over the limit or busting one of the HOS rules by a few minutes. YOU do NOT want to debate these subjects with several people that post and answer questions in these forums, including staff. I'm done! I just highly advise you to drop the attitude!

Just the facts...many insurance companies have their standards that carriers need to abide by in order to HAVE coverage. Like it or not, THEY really run the show.

Working for a variety of smaller carriers [less than 150 trucks] who would be more likely to have the work you desire; I can say that reckless was a gift of about two years grace...

DUI/DWI is usually prohibitive for 5 years with most insurance carriers.

Speed over 15, leaving the scene, reckless are usually 3 years and my biggest problem, being in New Jersey, is getting most insurance carriers to consider 'Careless' as less than 'Reckless' as there is a difference in this state.

The offer you have is due to the fact that WE is probably 'self insured' for the first $250K [or more] of every incident that occurs each year so they can put on drivers who's past would be a problem with most insurance companies. It might happen through Craig's list to get local work but the cost may very well be crappy equipment and conditions with crappy pay...

A good clean year with WE will make you look better to any other carrier as that reckless gets older. something like this that's close to the limit [2.75 yrs vrs 3] can usually get approval if the rest of the MVR is clean, I know my broker can reach up the ladder and get such approvals. You need time to heal up!

The insurance company's do hold all the cards, at least WE's trucks are somewhat newer and usually have working brakes...

    Good Luck

Reckless is as bad as a dui/dwi with my insurance underwriters and they dictate what goes with tickets.

I let go a few very good revenue making drivers because of their inability to deal with not drinking, so it was a lost on the money end but I sleep better because of it.

Don't matter, sorry to be harsh but you should know better

Yes but driving drunk or under the influence is unforgivable when someone is killed, the reason many of us want to see zero tolerance with it, lose the license the first time for life.

No it isn't, that's an excuse.

So here is my advice if you got through my opinion, take what you can get because good jobs are closed for you for a while.

I do well staying local trucking, just because someone refuses to drive otr doesnt mean there isn't a place for him or her driving truck.... now sitting in a car drunk with the keys in the ignition is a lack of good judgment. It should be no secret that having the keys anywhere near you while you are near any vehicle is know as intent to drive.

You can get a DWI on a little forest Gump style riding lawnmower. If it's a motorized vehicle, its chargeable as a DWI

Hope you know how to tell those scumbags "NO" when the harassing phone calls asking you to operate illegally start coming. Also hope you're good driving a dirty ### truck that'll take all your free time for a few months to get completely clean...

Or not. I got a new 2020. All the dirt and damage is mine.
I was suggested to run out of route on an osow load by someone other than my own dispatcher and I said shove off. End of story. I'm as legit as it gets and they've never questioned it. Maybe it depends on the dispatcher?

Where all you forum detectives hiding for this thread? If any thread needed you it's this one. Smells like there is a lot more to the story. Somebody asks about a career after hitting a pole an 50 replies demanding more info...dude makes excuses for his reckless pleaded down from a DWI an everyone is worried about judging. Ha.

I don't buy the..."I didn't do it". Clearly you did something to warrant a charge to be dropped to a lesser one.

I'm still trying to figure out the whole "I'm not debating" when nobody was trying to debate anything with the OP. Or where the attitude came from. Most the people who responded to you have been doing this awhile, an know a thing or two. Might be a clue to stop yapping an start listening. Especially as far as I know...none of them caught a reckless charge.

227 million drivers, an yet....most of them will never get a reckless charge. You get that charge when you piss off the cop who pulled you for speeding(VA is an excellent example) or for being an idiot behind the wheel. Keep that in mind...227 million. One more off the roads won't hurt anybody. Except maybe the defense lawyers.

Someday people will stop making excuses and blaming everyone else for their problems and realize taking responsibility for your actions is what grown ups do. Making excuses is what kids do.

He's got 3 issues. That chip on his shoulder is the third one. It's causing him to get an attitude and defensive when there is no need for it. Makes you wonder how he acts/reacts in the real world.

They enjoy punishing themselves. Or providing amusement for us.;) Could be worse, it could be taining... plus the truth hurts, an is one of the fastest ways to make enemies.

Someone who claims they "love" to drive, should probably practice protecting their license/cdl a bit better.
