A GMRS Radio over a CB Radio???

Okay, I see now that they are using 462mhz and 467mhz for frequencies. I assume the 5mhz split is for repeater usage? The problem with this audiovox 15 channel radio, is that it's 462mhz only. If that isn't confusing enough, they are using channel 10 (462.6750) as an emergency channel. Of course that won't be the case with other brand of radios. I just don't understand why they would make another radio service so confusing. Doesn't exactly make me want to jump on the bandwagon. Thanks for the links.

 

They make it confusing because they are government.

Honestly they have to look at spectrum use for that band and how interfierence can take place with other services. It is like why they won't let the cb band to go above and below because there is interference with services that are specialized. I would like to see the next 100khz be used for cb and fm exclusively but there isn't a chance in hell for that because somewhere around 27.500 there are some legacy medical devices still in use, like those from the dark ages.

As for gmrs and such, they have a purpose but I can not see using channel 7 with 5 watts and wide band fm on a shared channel with nbfm all with limited range.

 

Yes, I was thinking the same thing, I just didn't have time to finish my thoughts. The forklift guy pulled the last piece of my load off my stepdeck trailer as I was typing.

 

You are probably correct. The radio does look well used. Although Audiovox did make a nice looking radio. The expensive Motorola handhelds I have, are all blue in color. They look like toy radios for kids.

 

They had a good 102".

Thier CB radios were mostly rebranded models of rejected radio models by other more prominent manufactures.

 

RS had their own cbs designed by the same company that did work for sbe and midland. They were good, but their marketing was limited to RS and not third party.
