Everyone's situation is different. I'm leased to a company and I'm happy with it. I don't have to pay for a back office setup that is already in place by the carrier and I still average better them $4 / mi to the truck. Why would I need the headache of my own authority?

I also have the same freedom to choose my freight and where I run etc... just as you do. I've been home for the last 3 weeks and no one is calling asking when I'm going back to work. Yes, I could get my own authority and maker 10% more gross and might be able to keep half of it. I'm only losing about $6000-$8000 a year. That's pretty cheap office help in my opinion. I know there's not a lot of extra office work to be done but I don't have to do it. Only thing I do is file my ifta and that takes me about 5 minutes to do. Then I go fishing. I'm not doing anything to hurt the industry.

Just because you don't agree with how someone runs their business doesn't give you the right to come along and tell them they are doing it wrong. That would be like me telling you that you're doing it wrong because of the area you run because I don't run out there. That would be dumb.

It is the same bs as leasing a truck if you don't do it my way then you ain't doing it right.

I look at thi gs different ways and figure best options for me. I own my truck and am leased to a company.

I don’t have a dog in the fight but I personally ran my own numbers for several years and the past several years I’ve been leased on

    Sure.
I’m making them money, that’s why they’re in business
Is there additional $$ that they get but don’t pay me a percentage on??
    Maybe
But if I agree to haul a load for X and am happy with that number then it doesn’t matter

Now. On my own numbers I hauled cars and around 75% of what I hauled was COD cash money. So no chasing or waiting on payments. That was a huge plus!!

    Now I pull flatbed
I’m paid whether the company gets paid or not and have zero billing
    My insurance is comparable
I have had no wrecks but If I do, it’s their lawyer. Not mine
Our fuel discount many times is around $1
There’s no forced dispatch and if you find your own load they will book it if they are. Or can set them up
Could I personally do better on my own?
Yes! but I’ve been self employed since high school so I’m used to chasing and cracking my own nut but the benefits of having an office handle everything is sometimes worth the percentage given up

Could every driver be independent? No way
Many can barely make being a company driver work much less being a lease purchase option driver or whatever they call that “ owner “ situation

That's kinda the situation I'm in. My liability and cargo insurance is about 60% cheaper through the guy in leased to than I could get it for. Our fuel discount at TA/Petro is cost plus $.05 a gallon. We have pretty good tire discounts as well. The girls in the office do all my carrier packet stuff and I only sign the rate con. I book and negotiate all my own loads and I get paid every week. We do have factoring that costs 3% though. Some don't like it, I'm ok with it. The ones that don't like it don't need to work here. If I bring on a direct customer, I get a % of all the revenue we do with them. All in all, I like where I'm at and I don't mind helping the owner grow the business.

Who is the company?I have over 25 years experience. Looking for a company that only leases on experienced drivers and is willing to pay
