No, I've never taken the bus, you are looking at 30 hours. I drove or flew depending. I hear the train is nice and about the same cost as a bus ticket, but you have to buy it and get reimbursed.

Special Requirements for Texas Commercial Vehicles.
Passing the Chapter 14 test will get you your actual CDL permit to drive with a fully licensed CDL holder. However, it is my experience that you really need to study the whole book. Not only did I see questions from other chapters on the Chapter 14 exam, such as stuff from Ch.2 Driving Safely, Ch. 3 Transporting Cargo, Ch. 4 Transporting Passengers, Ch. 8, Tank Vehicles, and Ch. 10 School Buses, but you will still have to pass the other exams in short order after chapter 14 in order to get your CDL. Focus on the chapters covering Air Brakes (Ch. 5), HAZ-MAT (Ch. 9), Combination Vehicles (Ch. 6), and Double & Triples (Ch. 7) for the other exams.
Once you are at school, they give you the PreTrip Inspection Checklist of 7 items that must be memorized in order. You have to do the PreTrip in order without missing anything before your driving skills test. If you examiner isn't convinced you have the PreTrip down correctly from memory, they will fail you without even doing any of the driving portion of the exam. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you start memorizing the list on day one. It's lengthy, and a bit technical, and you won't get your CDL without it. You will not find the 7 item checklist in the manual, so don't worry about that one now. They will give it to you on the first day of class.
In other words, you need to study the whole manual!hunter0307 and revslev Thank this. -
My car is sitting at the yard so I have transpo when there. I HATE waiting around for the shuttle.
