I had to do a load in a company truck, which was a 2017 Cascadia. DD15 engine.

Compared to my 2008 Cascadia, the 17 was quiet! It felt like driving a Mercedes E class.

When did Freightliner start making their trucks so quiet?

I drove a 2016 day cab at a previous job. I got it brand new, and I remember it being pretty noisy and extremely cheaply built. The windshield leaked, both doors leaked, bumper was crooked, etc.

Some people arent well adapted, or were just not cut out for, anything less than a nerfed existence.

Assuming you’re referring to engine noise, that’s from common rail injection and multiple shots.

Some rocket scientist decided it’s better to wear injectors out faster so people don’t get offended by a diesel that actually sounds like a diesel.

Same as any other truck. Get cheap and order without sound deadener/insulation and any truck is loud.

The first year of production they were quiet. Quieter than anything I’ve driven previously. 379, 9400, classic xl, century, fld, coronado. Definitely quieter than any cab overs for certain I’ve ever been in. Thought I was driving a Cadillac in my first 2012 cascadia.

I'm driving a 2020 Cascadia and it very quiet. It even more quiet then the 2017 I was driving. The engine is more quiet I think and other big thing is this 2020 truck has extra insulation in the cab and sleeper. It has the electric battery a/c and heating system. So it come with the extra cab insulation.

When I first got into th e 2013, it was so quiet I could hear the compressor kicking in and back off, before the moisture ejector triggered. Driving down the road at speed.

The 2018(old style Evolution) is just a touch quieter, but one needs to treat the floor and we window seals with Armor All to quiet wind noise in cross winds.

    magoo68 Thanks this.
