No, but I'll inquire. Thanks, G13.

I have to ask myself if the universe is against me becoming a truck driver. Put another way, is this against God's plan for my life? Or to put it a third way, "I try go get out, but they keep pulling me back in."

A couple of decades ago, two really difficult customers in a row caused me to say screw it I'm done, and I became a Saturn salesman. That lasted 6 months. Wife had to go to garage sales to buy Christmas presents for the kids because we were so broke.

I quit and took a job managing a production line for a cell phone tower manufacturer. When I found out that none of the antenna mounts we were producing had an engineering stamp (because the two owners were sleazebags and didn't care) I got the heck out of there. Didn't want to be involved in lawsuits here in hurricane country. I knew these two clowns, and they had a propensity for being sued. Crown Castle has a lawyer or two and lots of money.

So, I got pulled back into kitchen remodeling, and kept at it for the next 21 years.

When I look at all the things I love that I was willing to give up to become a truck driver, e.g., gardening, blacksmithing, canning, cooking, camping with my wife, sleeping beside her every night, piddling in the mancave/workshop during my down time, taking time off whenever I wanted to, being my own boss, etc., compared to what I would get out of it--a steady if somewhat small paycheck and the thrill of driving a big semi truck--it does make me question if I'm having a "grass is always greener" moment that I've had once or twice before in my life.

I think I'm going to delay any decision about accepting another invitation to orientation. Stevens is supposed to call me Tuesday regarding my application, and it looks like Western Express will take anyone, practically.

I'm certain that I don't want to do kitchen remodeling full time anymore. Too much competition undercutting my bids. However, I turn down way more opportunities that are more handyman-related than kitchen remodeling related. I haven't had a kitchen remodeling inquiry almost three months, but I get one to three calls a week from people wanting a drawer fixed or some baseboard installed for example, and I tell them, "sorry, I don't do small jobs."

In our area, handymen are booked for weeks and months solid.

    Re-evaluating now.

Can't blame ya, on the re'evaluating . . at all. Try CFI . . . and leme know. Got a few friends that work over yonder, and like them quite well. Trained with them, and stayed. Good to read/hear you are still at it, bro . . . ~!

    I could've/would've/should've remembered . . . but I do not, and apologize. Do you have your CDL/P . . or A . . or needing both? Just thinking out loud of another place~ ....

@Luccc just got on with them, after his flatbedding gig didn't go so well .. either. Just went solo.. here in my home state.

In reading above; you HAVE the A license... I'd assume (<<<but yeah, we all know what THAT MEANS.. :( )

Now that question could be the basis for a very long, detailed, tedious, and profound discussion.

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

And that one verse in the Bible might well be at the end, and summation, of that discussion.

I think 'presume' is a much better word to use, most times.

G13, in which year were you born?
    Calling me a young'un...?

I'm not sure which successes you are talking about. Not many in my lifetime.
And while I may not always be right... I am never wrong.
(My mother taught me that saying, and it has served me well over the years.)

And you know, my middle daughter got a kick out of the Jedi thing.
She is stuck in Italy right now because of the virus.
She should have been back at the beginning of April, but won't get back before the end of June - so far.
18 years old and she goes to Italy to meet a guy 'friend' she met on the internet.
    What could go wrong? !!!
I tried to warn her about... all that could go wrong in that scenario. She went anyway.
This is the line I sent her today...
    "As Yoda would say...
Served you well your instincts have, my young padawan learner."

    Because she was right.
The people she is with are great people. No worries.
I send her money each week so she can help with food and rent because everyone is out of a job right now.
They, Ian and his mother, care for her.
Her instincts were right from the beginning about this trip.
