What if it Snows?

Post a few of your better welds, Maybe I can give you some pointers if you'd like. I can tell alot from looking at a weld.

When I worked at the fertilizer plant my supervisors son worked with me kinda like a welders assistant. At first he could make 2 pieces of metal stick together... Kinda.

Within a year I had him turning out some very competant welds. Then a few years later I left and started driving truck. I stopped by there 2 weeks ago to BS with some of the guys I used to work with. That same kid was turning out welds nearly as good as my own, and he is now the goto guy for all but the most critical welding.

I was very impressed with his work and said as much. He said he learned everything from me, and that I deserved the credit. I told him no... HE was the one that showed an interest and was willing to work hard at it, ask questions, spend many hours under a hood just watching, and to learn from his own experiences and mistakes. HE is the one that deserves the credit... Not me.

 

Is it true? There are some guys who couldn’t run a bead to save their life?

I found it easy. Common sense. But still don’t have much experience.

 

Yeah its true... Good kid, and something about welding intrigued him... He just needed a little guidance, the rest was all him.


On a side note...

I hear alot of guys say they cant weld good because they shake too much...

I shake like a leaf in a stiff wind!

For those that shake, it is about making your shake work FOR you... Not AGAINST you.

I basically incorporate my shake into my rhythm when welding.

Got wrong way driver 4am this morning on I-40 E TN/NC border. Was able to avoid collision and police was around to take care of her.
