    Hello fellow drivers,

I am looking for some information on Builders Transportation. Anyone out there currently work for them. If you have previously worked for them why did you leave.

I am heavily considering making a return to tractor trailer driving, I have been out of the T/T game for almost three years now. I have been working a lot of Class B work trying to keep my driving skills sharp, however my wife has recently lost her job due to the economy and now we are living on just me check and my local CDL Courier position is just not cutting it anymore, and neither is their health insurance. Within the last six weeks we have lost the ability to use the hospital we have used for the last three years, my wife has lost the ability to see her "personal" doctor, and my daughter has lost the ability to see the pediatrician that she has seen from birth. :biggrin_25510:

I have been in touch with Maverick and they said that I would need six months verifiable in the last three years but since I have not pulled a trailer in almost three years they told me that I would not qualify. TMC told me that they would not take me due to "unspecified reasons" so after speaking with them once I will never again. So I have been trying to find out about Builders because they have a terminal in Birmingham which is about 40 miles from my hometown, and they seem to have some nice equipment.

So anyone out there with some information on this company ( Insurance, Pay, hometime, etc) please let me know. I want to make the best decision I can so that I wont have to job hop.

Builders sold out along time ago unless they started up again because i think it was schneiders that bought them along time ago
they are the ones that had green trucks with yellow name on the doors.

Builders is now in white freightliners with blue stripes and lettering. Has BTC on the door and I think they are out of Memphis.

Driver I have never worked for BTC (which is out of Memphis,Tn). I do hear that they are a good company and also have BCBS ins. I rarely see them deadheading around Alabama which in your case would be a good thing. Birmingham area is good for freight these days as well. My guess you would do good at this company. If you do go to work for them keep us posted on how your doing.

    Ghost_Rider226 Thanks this.

    Thank you driver,
I also have been trying to watch and see how they are running and you are right I do not see many empties running around. If they still have BCBS that would be a great thing. I will keep you all informed. I have an email sent to the recruiting department and am waiting on a response.

..uh, ya better read ybfjax thread on BTC, started out like a nice honeymoon & ended in a divorce 6 months later.. also read Ronald's & Rerun's comments on the same page, you might want to reconsider before you end up like they did.. from what I've read they're just another company trying to survive the recession at the drivers expense..

No I have not gone with them yet. I have had to put things on hold until after my overnight sleep study is done during the first part of next month to confirm the severity of my sleep apnea. My doctor will not sign off on my driving until that time. So I do not have any new information yet. I did however talk to three drivers last week that have been with the company for 5+ years, and they all told me that they have not been hurting for freight. Two of the three told me that they were bringing home anywhere from 650 to 775 a week and the other who was a trainer was bringing home around 900.

Will post new blog in a couple weeks when I can know more about my driving future. ♠
