Hi,
We picked up a load that had to be tarped, but before that we had to cover the load in that plastic wrap stuff and needless to say it was very slippery; are my boots at fault? They’re not slip resistant, but even if they were it’d still be real slick. Does anyone actually walk on this stuff? I had to go on all 4’s haha
Best regards, John

Are flatbedders allowed to wear golf spikes when working on a load like this?

Yet to take a spill while wearing them, but I'm very conscious of how I step when I'm climbing around a load. They are not the best on the market, but far from the worst. They are good & comfortable, yet moderately priced compared to lots out there. I feel you get alot for the money with them. I've worn this pair all of '18, & '19. Got a pair of similar insulated Wolverines I wore Jan-April. Now I'm back in the old pair till it gets cold again.
With my new schedule of only wearing them 8 months out of the year, I'm thinking they go maybe 3 more years..
Another favorite of mine is the Georgia Boot Mud Dog. Think they were $74 last time I got a pair. They'd last about 2years, even around the saltwater. Sucked in winter, 0 insulation though..

I wore Wolverines for years until I put on my first pair of Ariat boots and then it was over for the Wolverines for me. All of my Ariat boots are oil and slip resistant and they are the best in my opinion.

If you're going to get boots, get real boots. Don't buy a hundred dollar pair of glorified house slippers, get something that will last and something that will take care of your feet. Cheap boots are miserable to wear and they don't last.
All of the boot makers I linked to have custom fitted boots available. They send you a pattern, you take measurements on a template, send it back to them and in a couple of weeks you get a pair of boots that you'll be more than happy with.
Once you get a pair of work boots hand made you'll never deal with that garbage at the box stores again.
Also, if the five hundred dollar price tag seems high you can expense them on your taxes if you're required to wear boots at work.faux_maestro, farmerjohn64 and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
