Well I was sneaking heavy through Kentucky on the weekend here and now I'm stuck behind a nice big scalehouse with doghouse and everything.

Sounds bad again. I was driving along and then the tranny sounded really crunchy, getting no power to the wheels. Coasted the next mile to the scalehouse.

Super 10 transmission, I can put it into any of the gears while sitting here, the synchronizer seems to be doing it's thing. High side gears all sound crunchy, the lower low side gears do nothing, let out the clutch and it's like I still have it pressed in. 7th and 9th (both low side) the engine will stall, so it seems it's biting those ok. 8th and 10th (hi side same positions as 7th and 9th) are just loud.

Any ideas, and anyone ANYWHERE NEAR ME?? I'm about 30 miles north of TN on I-75.

Well, I know you don't wanna hear this, but the Pete dealer in London(about 5 miles north of where you are) are really good folks.

Are we sure this isnt just a bad clutch? Course, the last time I heard crunching in my car tranny, it was bad news.

My mind just doesnt want to process the thought of that transmission being baked.

His thought was that if it was heat-related that something would have siezed, stuck in a gear, not still changing gears with the stick. But there really isn't much that makes sense about this so nothing is off the table.

I know it's cooled down now and nothing has changed. :biggrin_25516:

If all the gears acted like 3rd and 5th do, I would swear that was the case. Those gears you let out the clutch and nothing happens, no noise either. Most of the other gears will crunch only when you let out the clutch, and 7th and 9th seem to want to go if I could get up enough speed to take off. It stalls when I let out the clutch in those two.
