People forget taxes are completely different for an O/o in general. any half ### decent accountant can turn 90k profit into 50 or less

all that chrome and those brandy new Michelin’s on my truck were purchased for more then just looks. A truck is one of the greatest tax write offs you can possibly have

I personally like the sheetz at x13 off 78, They are usually cheap as far as pa goes it’s just a pain to get in, but pump is iirc $2.63, and the Pennjersey Nj Truck stop is $2.30, which one is cheaper? And where do you buy

Yea, but point I'm making is I'd need to make 150k+ profit to justify the initial expense of a new truck & maybe trailer.

You pay taxes on profit, how do you think all these big corporations get by without paying?

I ran an LLC in my first 20 year career. My LLC never paid a dime at the end of the year.

    I'm at $0.60 a mile and I'm a company driver..
A friend of mine went to Trans AM with and used his own truck for $1.05 a mile. He went upside down the first break down.

Sounds like you are doing ok, that's good to hear!! These big carriers, take advantage of drivers!! I am sure someone at Trans AM blew smoke up yours friends butt and told him how much money he was going to make, all the while that same person knew all along your friend would fail

He's a quite guy and didn't mention anything about it until he asked me for money and I dug into it.

It still sucks, It irritates me that companies pad their pockets while knowingly setting up drivers to fail.

I was just thinking to myself - If I made $85k/year as company driver - 5 year plan = $425k as a Company driver.

    If I bought a brand new rig & I'd want to because that's how I roll. I'd pay cash for a Pete 389 customed a bit for what - maybe $180k - 200k??

Now as an O/O if I made $130k NET - 5 year plan would be $650k. Minus the $200k on new truck and I'm at $450k/5 years. A mere $25k more than my same self as a Company driver.

So how much more do I need to make as an O/O to justify the switch? Maybe $150k/year NET or more. And this simple math doesn't even factor in a new reefer trailer (if I was to buy one).

A good paying Company job is hard to beat imo.
