My current boss won't pay for an APU and the truck's A/C sucks. I'm quitting as soon as another local company hires me (COVID has pretty much created a hiring freeze locally). But for now I'm miserable. In a few more days I'll demand no overnight routes. Going down the road with terrible A/C doesn't bother me so much. But I can't sleep in the heat. My boss will pay for a motel (3-4 times a week, but he won't buy an APU, I can't understand his economics). But the motel is almost always a hassle that can add 2 hours to my day (or subtract 2 hours of sleep). And the motel doesn't always guarantee decent A/C (the ones he will pay for). It occurs to me that I could run an insulated tube from the top front vent on the reefer into the sleeper. A small fan and varible valve on the cab end would be easy enough to rig. Sealing the vent side of the tube is a must of course. Really though, anything I rig will be an improvment; frost always forms arround these leaky vents on this companies' trailers.
Can anyone tell me why this is not possible? Is it legal? Is reefer air dangerous to breath?

Why not just get truck ac fixed. There is no reason it shouldnt be able to keep the truck cool while idling.

First off, unless your buyiing the vehicle you dont have the right to change the specs of the company truck. If you so need an APU why dont you buy it? How is that for budgeting? If you dont want to buy it why should he? (or her if female).

I have heard of it done. If I remember correctly, a dryer vent hose was used and a fan from a boat blower motor, which was used to remove fumes from an inboard engine compartment. But of course if your trailer was loaded your truck will smell like whatever you were hauling

I actually saw a setup siminlar to what you are describing... Think it was 2 summers ago. If it was done right I don't see why it wouldnt work.

Personally I would opt to have the A/C fixed... Truck A/C should be capable of nearly freezing you out.
