Same here, booked out til Friday morning on solid freight.

@TallJoe, very interesting stuff man! Thanks for sharing. I almost went in to voice over acting, advertising and such. It’s a fascinating topic to me.

Honestly? Not really. The only thing I can generally tell by the accent is how hard the other guy is going to negotiate. Haggling is just not a cultural phenomenon in much of the US any more. I know that if I hear a guy a gal from the former USSR or adjacent, I'm going to have to ratchet up the game a little. Native sons and daughters don't tend to haggle nearly as hard. Folks with the various Hispanic dialects? 50/50. The Indians dispatching out of Canada? 50/50 as well.

I had my first Aussie dispatcher about two weeks ago. That tripped me out. Super nice lady.

I called CH R and they were aware of this already.
I just hope it did not dirty my phone somehow after I clicked to extract the attachment.

Cram as many loads in before the 4th of July as you can. Things will most likely drop considerably just after the 4th. Happens every year.

I've always noticed this as well. It's a cultural thing. For us natives it should be a dead give away of what we are up against with competition from new immigrants. This is not a slam on anyone, it's an observation. People from poorer places fight hard to get ahead. We're lazy and lax because it's been handed to us. I'm pointing the finger at me personally. I hate to haggle. I hate to have to. I have to work at it, honestly.

I hate it too. I don't think there is anything glamorous about haggling. As a matter of fact, it is the lowest level, primitive and demeaning way of negotiation. I am not cut out for this flea market gypsy style cooking pots and pans sales tactics. Poor men skill of trying to sell whatever little they have to sell to other poor men. That's why I like to bid and accept. I'd really prefer a contract: steady and consistent freight for agreed long term rate controlled by a reasonable fuel surcharge. I am a solo operation, though, so it would be impractical.

That's why you don't make any money on the spot market. Bidding on the JB Hunt load board takes you nowhere. Spot market is a constant haggling hustling game, if you don't like it or don't feel comfortable doing constant negotiations, put your effort into finding a carrier with good contract steady freight and lease onto them

Perhaps I will. This random freight adventure is no fun for me any more. For some time already, I've been thinking about an exit strategy upon the end of this year's insurance term. I just hate to waste my good standing MC# with 0 CSA score and always green light prepass. We'll see.

You could try letting someone else book your freight for money. You seem to run hard, so that’s not a problem. Get to keep your authority.
