They are nice. I took A brand new one for a cruise last June.
Only truck I would buy if buying brand new.
Just can’t handle the cheap plastic cabinets after being in my Western Star.
You have to get a White one though and bash one of the headlights in with a bat and reduct tape it in so the Chicago Mafia thinks your one of theirs
Also easier to keep cool when parked.

I grew up watching my Mom haggle with people and my Dad was business minded. It’s just sort of in my dna and I like it. My wife was taught it’s rude to talk about money. So, she gets uncomfortable talking numbers and avoids confrontation on it. Everybody is different. Play to your strengths and surround yourself with people who are really good at what you are not.PPDCT, 86scotty, tommymonza and 1 other person Thank this. -
So .... How do you haggle when you know that everyone is getting paid x amount on a lane?
For example Chicago - Columbus, OH - $850 - 900:
You pick up the phone find out about appointments and commodity and ....?
Hey...mister...I am a good carrier...great truck and trailer. Clean and shiny. Just like myself...
Now listen Mister...gimme $1500 from Chicago to Columbus...you won't regret! Mister...
Nope $850 is all I got....
Mister, Mister...listen Mister...I am a good man, have family and kids ... truck payments too. I am never late and always nice to customers, sir. I will turn on Macro point and call in the morning sir...
OK $900 and I am losing money on it. So you know!
No.No.No. Mister....look Mister, I know Chicago and Columbus. I will do this load and the next one you get for less 100 less... $1400
Nope
$1300
Nope. And I gotta go...
Mister, Mister...listen Mister...I am a good man, have familly and kids ... truck payments too. I am never late and always nice to customers, sir. I will turn on Macropoint and call in the morning sir...Please $1200
950 and I gotto go!
OK. OK. please send it over! -
Because in my case it looks like this and we are talking about normal times, not some rate spikes.
I can do it for $1000, then he says that $850 is all he got. Then I tell him that I would not get lower than $950 because that load is heavy and delivers not early enough for me to reload but if he changes his mind he can let me know...
then he says $900 and I agree, if he does not say $900 that then he and I say good bye.
Should it be any different?tommymonza Thanks this. -

Certainly, in my satirical example above, I overdid it (absolutely did not intend to offend anyone)but my point is that I can hardly believe that haggling can be that much effective. I don't know what arguments can be used in this money arguing process to overcome what is known as a standard rate on a lane in a given time. Especially, with regards to random loadboard freight. I tried to reason and plea to common sense to many of them antd they they did listen and said that they understood...but I never got paid 1500 from Chicago to Columbus OH. Or any close to it.
I am curious how you guys do it though.
I know, I know, You don't want to show the keys to your success...Dino soar, SteveScott, PPDCT and 1 other person Thank this.
