Have you thought about using a mini split instead? They're a little more expensive but would probably be a better setup.
Another ac window unit thread

im looking into them now...seen a few cheapies on ebay. i read somewhere on here theres a good thread about someone installing one but i cant find it. they can be used with my existing power inverter?
-
also....i found a few cheap stand ups with 6000 btu on ebay. a 6000 btu converts to 1700 watts..but im not sure how to find the peak watts when it starts up....im guessing it should be close to the 5000 btu one i have
-
In theory. Assuming similar wattage draw
-
yup...well i will order a stand up in the next few weeks. hope it works. the split systems seem pretty wide for the cheap one im looking at...looks tough to mount without blocking my window.
-
Look in my thread "nomading ac options. I think youcll be surprised.
-
yup..i did run through that thread. what did u end up using?
-
Saving for it. But I'll be doing the gen and window shaker
-
ah ok. ya this setup worked well but the vibration killed it. i really thing a stand up thats not bolted to my back wall will have a lot less of the vibration. probably will just ratchet strap it to keep it from tilting and thats it

well little update..i finally got a stand up in. havent had real time to test it though..been raining here all week. drove it around for an hour today. felt really nice. battery voltage was about 13.8 with it off and no headlights, headlights usually drop it .1 volt. cruising speed with AC on hovers around 13.3 (13.2 with headlights). stopped at a light is about 12.8. with lights on. anyways here some pics
