Stealing a $40 dollar product isn't reasonable either.

I agree to some extent. If you knowingly break the law then you should be prepared to accept the consequences of your actions. Does a bottle of booze warrant a bullet or 2? I don't believe so. I do believe it warrants a good day or 2 breaking rocks on the chain gang though.

The thing is, if the government refuses to do their job by charging a thief for stealing then the victim only has so many options. If there was actual consequences for stealing then the victim will never have to use those 2 bullets.

The law favors the criminal. A home invader chooses when and where to strike. He invades your castle, and opts to run away when things get too heated. And he is protected by the law when he decides to get out of the kitchen.

Your peace has been threatened, your family is insecure, your home is damaged, but the criminal gets to leave when he chooses and try again another day. Sounds fair, doesn't it?

(I made a mistake. See edit below.)

So the thief was a black person or did you just assume? I read the entire news article and even the original source (Fox News) and no where does it say the thief was a black person? Your comment is completely irrelevant. Just wow. (Sentences in question above in bold.)

On separate note, she’s a fool:

She told police she grabbed her late mother Mary’s .38 Smith & Wesson snub-nose revolver and shot a suspect who was trying to steal alcohol last Tuesday, according to an affidavit obtained by McClatchy News Service.

She said she wasn’t aiming for the alleged thief but instead shot the suspect in the back.

I never shot a gun before,” Boyce said, “but I guess it’s something that comes natural. I aimed at the floor to scare him.”

Nashville liquor store owner, 88, explains why she shot alleged shoplifter: 'I'm fed up'

    EDIT——

Okay, it turns out it was a black man according to this article below. Interestingly, the Fox News article and the article from the OP do not mention who the thief was, but I still suspect some members assumed he was black.

I’m not going to shoot someone for stealing $500 worth of fuel. If someone is stealing my fuel, chances are it’s the trucker right next to me. Also no need to get physical as all I need to do it video record him and his truck and trailer. He can flee, but I already have all the information I need.

They can think whatever they want, ultimately the final decision will be in court.

They will plead her out with no jail time. No jury is going to send that old woman to prison. I know if I was on that jury, she would walk.

88 years old, how many bottles of booze had she seen stolen? How many disappeared over the years?

When the courts fail to punish the criminals. This is the type of justice that will prevail. I prefer the police and the courts do their job, so an 88 year old woman doesn't have to resort to this type of protection.

Doesn't matter what pigment their skin is. A thief is a thief.

The health condition of the thief can affect her sentence. Shooting someone is close to a death sentence for the person being shot. If you survive the shot(s), your body may not be the same. Yeah, I know he was a thief, but she went overboard for some stupid booze. Anyone that old should not be working nor own a gun, period. Where were her children who should be taking care of her?

Since you decided to take my post, highlight what you wish and essentially take it entirely out of context, I will clear up some misconceptions.
I wasn't even referring to this incident. I was referring to the clear change in societal attitudes towards what laws are going to be enforced and which ones are going to be ignored, and the logical outcome of those changes. I used other cities as an example, not Nashville, although the same could easily happen there. I am certain there are many areas in the country where crimes described in Nashville would not be tolerated.
And the term "white flight" is a legitimate historical description of what occurred in the 1960's. Although it seems to be all the rage now to change history as some groups see fit, I have no idea how the same population migration will be described in this absurd "woke" fantasy world we are now in where a realtor can't describe the biggest bedroom in the house as a "master bedroom" because of it's perceived derogatory meaning.
