Your mistake is conflating other issues that have nothing to do with this particular incident. As the owner, she has the power to ban people from her store, to install video cameras, and so on. If thieves got away in the past, that is separate from this one. You can’t take your anger on a particular thief because a bunch of them have gotten away in the past and expect not to get in trouble with the law. As I have said before, it comes with running a business. There will be thieves, especially in a store. You do the best in your power and lawfully to limit it.

She would have been a genuine victim if she had not shot the guy in the back while running away with a few bottles of booze. Yes, obviously both thieves should go to jail and be fined if they haven’t already. I highly doubt the thieves got away clean.

Sorry, but she ain’t getting a pass from me just because she’s an old lady. So now all old ladies can be shooting people (criminal or not) and not expect to get in trouble with the law? We have laws for a reason. Nobody should be getting special treatment just because they are a woman, an old lady or man, and so on. If they have a mental illness, then that’s different.

Yet the court ruling disagrees. It’s settled now. The old lady went overboard. I am also certain the two thieves also got what they deserved.

Old people are well known for developing mental problems due to age. Someone needs to take care of them whether they like it or not. Anything stupid that happens will be on their children’s hands.

What? What are you talking about? Clearly if we all had the power to retire now, most of us would regardless of age, or if we did return to work it would be whatever we felt like doing and with all the freedoms possible such as working very few hours daily. Who wants to be driving all-nighters, working irregular hours, or whatnot?

Too bad she shot him in the back while running away. I’m now starting to think that she has training with a gun and she is lying about never having shot a gun. Some people will say anything to save their own skin.

I don’t give a rat’s butt if she is fed up. If you are going to do something, you do it right and legally.

That’s for her and her children to decide. She can live with one of her children and even occasionally oversee the store, but certainly not be at the counter and with a dam gun with presumably no training. Jesus help us!

Like I have said countless times, the thieves need to also be punished, and they will. She isn’t the law. Let law enforcement and our courts handle it. If you’re going to be shooting someone, you better be dam sure you are in the right, especially in this day and age.

How would anything stupid that an elderly person does be on their children's hands?

There is currently no law for that, but we should all know better than to leave our 88-year-old parents wandering around.

We need to pass some law that the children of the elderly need to take care of them at a certain age just like they took care of them when they were children. Roles change.
