You can edit your log book and change OFF-Duty to sleeper berth. Because sleeper berth will extend your 14 hours clock if you have at least 8 hours in sleeper. OFF-Duty does not stop your 14 hours clock.
If your running low on 14 hour clock at pickup or delivery. You can use Personal Conveyance to drive to first safe place to park.

Farmer John, when you go on duty or start driving, your 14 hr clock starts. At that point you have 14 hrs to do what you gotta do, and then shut it down. Going off duty in between doesn't stop the clock.

And dont feel bad about not knowing alot of this stuff. When I first started it took me 6 months to learn the log book and 6 months to learn how to shift gears.

It’s been like 30 minutes since my dispatcher said anything and I’m contemplating just going for that truck stop. I’m parked far enough over on the shoulder, only way anyone would hit me is if they completely ran off the road -
Wasted Thyme, Coffey and farmerjohn64 Thank this.

For future reference, even if you couldn't use PC, it is better to get a log violation than shutdown on a shoulder or even a ramp.
You say you were parked well off the road, but even if you only got hit because someone else ran off the road you can bet you would still be nailed for it, especially if the wreck caused injury or death.
Much better to get chewed out by your company safety dept or even put out of service by DOT than have to pay a lawyer to keep you out of prison.Truckermania, faux_maestro, Coffey and 4 others Thank this.
