This used to absolutely floor me when I was in the oilfield. All the idiot water truck drivers made a bad name for themselves with the locals for driving like it was the Indy 500. I'd be running a few under getting hourly.

Come to find out they were hauling ### to catch up with their buddies to tell water cooler stories. Morons

Some have to feel better about themselves running with “the cool kids”.

Pa got special grant money to after oilfield specific equipment. Even now theirs still some action in where I am. Better chance of getting picked off on the 2 lanes than the big road.

When we were doing 3rd party sand for Repsol the company drivers must of hated us LOL. 75 miles on one of the fracs all 2 lanes LOL. The one frac had like 20mi on us 15 and we'd end up catching up to them on the hills and still beating them

Thats why a lot of companies went to load bonus instead of OT. "This guys doing 3 loads a shift why you only getting 2" wonder how many times that conversation came up throughout the industry

being slow is miserable. Just feels like I'm wasting time. You can save almost 2hrs by driving 70+ instead of 62. I saw one guy pass me and went to a rest area, then 1 hr later passed me again. Being slow also forces you to stay in the right lane which is dangerous. I mean, you dont technically have to, but you'll probably get shot riding in the middle going 62 someday.

Sorry I need to be able to pass idiots.

Unfortunately if your company insists that you’re too stupid to do that safely, you’re screwed.

No company cares about safety. Going slower just means cheaper insurance and less money spent on fuel. Always about money. Most accidents in semis aren't even speed related. Only way I'm driving 65 or slower is if I'm getting paid $90k a year to do it.

Hell yeah it's miserable. I drove a 62mph truck for 6 months, it was the worst thing ever. Now with 72MPH I feel much less stressed out and can pass 65mph clusters quickly and drop back downntona lower speed
I had a 62MPH truck for about 8 months. I was pretty miserable, no extra speed to do anything. Now with 72MPH it gives me exactly what I need, if I can't pass someone that fast, I just stay behind them. I usually just pass the 65mph clusters and cruise at 68. Definitely a good feeling, although I feel as if it's a double edged sword since I find myself speeding a bit more.

65mph tractor, and I still average 2800 miles a week running 59/60mph. No stress about trying to pass clusters, and the few times I do have a slow vehicle in front of me I have plenty of extra to get around them quickly. I will say those first couple of weeks were taxing in my patience, but now I find myself more relaxed at the end if the day.
