Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Ok... pros and cons at every job... we all know that... one thing I didn’t know I would miss were the seats in those Big Green Trucks.

If I remember correctly, I think Abilene put the same kind of upgraded seats in all their Trucks... if someone could look at either the seat or the booklet that’s probably in with the Truck Manuals and tell me what brand/model they are id greatly appreciate it.

(ya, that Volvo and upgraded seat spoiled me... lol)

Here in the suburbs of northern Chicago, at a plant that makes stuff.

The load I was supposed to pick up at 8:00am local hasn't actually been manufactured yet. Was supposed to be manufactured last night, but apparently there were issues. Won't be ready until 11:00am local at the earliest.

Dude that came out to tell me was very much acting like he was expecting me to read him the riot act about it. I assured him that I didn't care and would happily get paid $20/hr to sit around waiting for them to get it together.

 

, all this does is piss them off when you give them attitude.
I’ve had them tell me stuff like that, like we are behind loading, I’m like no problem walk away and 10-15 minutes they come and get me to load me while other trucks obviously have earlier appointments than me.

 

Could not agree more... i can be assertive when I need to be... but I remember one time I hit the same kind of issue... “Dude, we are running behind, three guys are on vacation, two called in sick, blah blah blah” ... I said I’m not in a hurry, I can be flexible if you need to be, etc”

20 minutes later I was loaded.

meanwhile another of our drivers came in just moaning and groaning... lol ... when the dock guy came out to give me the paperwork he thanked me for being flexible and told me how the other guy was acting and what he was saying... yup, you guessed it... no one was in a rush to get him loaded.

I smiled and waved at him on my way out... lol

 

So... $20/3....

Just what is minimum wage nowadays???

 

Yeah, and as a team we split that! 3 hours at a shipper is 10 bucks each. Seems like an insult.

 

Plus, you have to track and request it too... lol
