I've learned to use less pressure with the wheel. I'll really apply pressure on a rough stain in the wheel, but let the wheel work, and with the yellow wheel, just apply mild pressure. Seems enough to change the tone of the grinder.

Oh and IF you do the white wheel, slow down your grinder, I set my Makita at about 3-4 level setting. The white wheel isn't supposed to be spun full speed.

I’ve got a red wheel, it’s very stiff, I thought it was only for SS. I’ll try it on the aluminum, though. Good to know. What about scratches in SS air cleaners? Any tips?

I gave up on polishers a couple years ago due all the reasons previously stated , yeah its crappy work but got tired of paying people with drug issues only to have the work destroyed by salt and calcium chloride.
Pulled the outside wheels and had them replaced with accushield wheels ..no issues since and spend about half on washes .

Prices have sure gone up. I remember $40 for tanks, $10-$15 for wheels. 20 yrs ago, Lol. I’m not saying your work isn’t worth it, but $150 for each tank, and $90 a wheel, total $840, that counts Me out.

No kidding ! And why I went to accushields ..dont need the tude and wasted time along with king's ransome pricing .
My accushields paid for themselves in about a year over standard aluminum wheels that had to be polished.

Red is for stainless. Orange is for aluminum. I've never used red on aluminum. I'll have the check, but I think my stainless wheel is like a cream colored. Stainless is very finicky. Evan steger has a YouTube video where he does a stainless cleaner. I'm not real good on stainless. I'm still fine tuning my aluminum method.

My mistake, I see you suggested orange wheel, not red on aluminum. I’ve only used yellow wheel, with brown Tripoli, then green, with the good and worn yellow wheel.

Don't mix wheels and bars. It contaminates the wheels. 2 bars, 2 wheels. 4 bars 4 wheels or however many wheels and bars you have. Same bar on the same wheel each time. You'll get a better finish without contamination.
