It may happen all the time, but that doesn’t make it right.

Sounds a bit like the medical card. Legally you may not have to carry one anymore, but don’t get caught in MD without one.

Not really rated. But rule of thumb is 10k per rack.

I thought so, and I’d call it a safe bet that coil weighs more than 30K lbs.

While it's always hard to guess cause of the gauge. Some small ones can get heavy, and some big ones are light. And vise versa. Never guess, read the tags.

That's black iron the first process of a coil. It's on the smaller side, I'd guess 35k. So its tiny for black iron. Which pays the least and normally never needs tarp.

Got to Brinkley Auction in Idabel, OK on Friday morning at 1030am. After a whopping 7 hours and change I was chained up and rolling at 615pm. What a cluster "F" that was. The two tractors on the front were buried in a field with flat tires and didn't run. Somebody forgot to mention that they were salvage units. The big one on the back had to be jumped constantly. Hit the road and pulled a 34hr restart at my delivery in Sargent, NE. Mr. Rudy's restaurant and drinkery next door was excellent. Good food and quality service with just nice people. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Now I'm en route to the John Deere Dubuque to get four mini excavators going to Texas.
