Okay I got it, he backed in, ran over the pole just enough so that when he did the “holy **** gas it” routine it got caught in between his bumper and he dragged it some more

Totally unrelated to your comment, but earlier I had fun using my redneck ingenuity to get on top of an osb board load that was too high and I don’t have a ladder; I grabbed my timbers, stacked them on top of each other and used my 4 inch strap to get my big arse up there hahaha

Some of us don't still pull a flat bed. I drag a hopper around as does @jamespmack on occasion, @Rugerfan is a tanker yanker last i heard, and a couple others are doing other things at the moment. We don't discriminate.

Since your asking, I'll comment. But dont take it personally. It's more about whoever at the company you worked for didnt train you properly. You were put in a bad situation. First the racks yes, dont matter how much chain you use if that lumber breaks. Next the lumber is not beveled and it's in 90° racks. Next I highly doubt it's hard lumber. Looks like heat treated, but not hard wood. Next no rubber under coil between lumber. Yea, alot tell you to put mats under racks, I dont feel it's better or worse. But between coil, lumber and racks are important. Next you can put a second chain on pulling back like you did to feel good, and with 5x16" chain I might too. Hard impact will not stop it. Dont care how many chains are on it. Just the truth. It helps you during hard brake yes. But with your side rail securement those chains dont mean a #### thing. The reason for proper racking is the most important item. One chain back, One chain forward. Then everyother chain is as close as you can down to the deck. Those center ones hold it to the trailer. I'll give you credit for whatever you attempted to use as edge protectors. Black iron dont require it, but I stress using them to protect chains. Edge protectors do two jobs. Protect coil from chain, and chain from coil.

With that said I dont care what side you put your binders on. I dont agree with people that say it matters on coils. Some other freight it does. I put most all of mine one the same side. Then I can walk one side in the dark even and not hit one. But your securement to the pockets is not acceptable. Not gonna get into the of you can or can't debate. But you should go down around a spool and hook into the far side of a pocket. Or around two spools and hook back to chain, even around one spool and up threw or around a pocket back to chain. What you have done is not secure at all.

Adding again your boss or owner should be shot. Its thier duty to train and verify drivers know how to haul them. Not be a sob and send a paid employee out to grab a coil as a backhaul and drive rates down because of lack of training and insufficient equipment.

Again, not a attack on you if you were not trained. But that mofo that let you do it needs kicked in the nuts.
