PA Turnpike approves 2021 toll increase -- including 45% hike for non-EZPass drivers
The Pennsylvania turnpike is just ridiculous.
I like that they say they need more revenue to pay for the toll by plate program. Like laying off all of the toll employees and their benefits and pensions means nothing.
That dingdong Ed Randell was the one that made it so that they could pull money off the turnpike for whatever other projects they felt like.
Maintaining the turnpike itself is expensive enough. Using it to fund anything that they feel like... the hikes are going to be endless.
The article said that this is the 12th or 13th year of hikes. Every single year for 12 or 13 years.
Unbelievable.
PA turnpike is raising rates again

Supposedly after 2023 the TP payments to Penndot go down to $50 million a year from the current $450 million.

And why do I have to see a Magistrate? I can’t win, might as well be the Prosecutor. They have wrongly ticketed Me 4 times, over the years. I quit going there. Their revenue games, put my safety rating at risk. Can’t afford that. Not worth it.

Last time I was on the Turnpike was 5 years ago. Wife and I were headed for Seaside Heights NJ for a weekend. I don't have Ez Pass in the car and wouldn't ya know I mistakenly went through the Ez Pass lane. I figured they'd send me the bill so I kept going.
Two weeks later I get the bill for $97.50. Bear in mind I was in a car, and only on the Pike for about 25 miles. So I called them and explained this to them. They said I had to produce a map of my entire trip, highlight the section of Turnpike I drove on, and email them a PDF copy of said map. Then they would review it to determine the proper toll amount (should've been around $10 I think), add their cost for the time it would take to review it, and $25 for blowing the toll booth.
In a fit of frustration I just sent them a check and a note kindly telling them what I thought of their pothole ridden abortion they call a road.Rollr4872, Big_D409 and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Still cheaper than the 2 lanes where some bonehead runs a stop sign or you run over a kid on a bike in a small town and screws up your life forever. Make that $50 bucks ( or whatever) seem cheap.. Stupid toll roads are the dumbest thing anyway, how do the states without toll roads do it? Don't the toll states get highway funds anyway? Sounds like a giant slush fund for these crooks to tap into for their shenanigans. Again, you want to drive your trucks today, this is what happens, making other people rich except you,,,just sayin'.

This is very wrong, we go through hassles with them every month, this month they sent us a $900 bill for a driver blowing through an ezpass lane without a transponder. The picture they attached with the license isn't even ours or one of the carrier's we lease to, it belongs to a company out of NJ.
A few month back, the transponders were not being read at all, the dash came showed a green light but it never registered for that lane, and we were sent a huge bill because it sure registered at the Ohio border.
Toll roads that accept any federal funding should be free to drive on, it is our money that goes into the maintaince of that road and for some reason not one toll road is really kept up to the standards they should be kept at, much higher than non-toll roads.stillwurkin, mitmaks, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this.
