Beveled timber

    Its company supplied "hardwood" but like you said some of the "hardwood" they sell at trailer supply places is anything but!

    Fair enough, I was shocked to find poplar in the beveled timber I was looking through, may as well have been home depot pine :p

    Experience in working with wood, dad did woodworking as a hobby, older brother does it for a living and I dabble myself.

    Grain pattern, color, weight are the main indicators, I'm occasionally wrong according to my brother, but only on really similar woods or very exotic stuff :p

    Hardwood loses it leaves in the winter. Softwood keeps them.
