I may have to go the rebuild route though. I know it's less advisable but I'm only going to have so much money to put towards this.

I would not rebuild that piece of junk Super10 for any amount of money. That thing is full of quirks, plus most everyone hates them so you are double screwed when you try to trade up. -
A straight 10 would require a bellhousing swap for the ISX as well, another cost consideration, plus any driveshaft size difference swapping etc... it just adds up every other way, more than I am going to be able to manage.

Drive shafts can be found or if you can't its not that expensive to shorten one or lengthen it. -
To clarify a few things: Checked air pressure at regulator, range and splitter valves, all ok. Trans originally was a "top 2" auto shift. Someone in the past had eliminated that feature along with all valves and wiring ( per Trans serial number). Removed PTO cover to inspect. Drive gear is broken, explains why only had 7th and 9th gear since these are the only "direct" gears. Gear being broken is a progressive failure caused by moving gear shift level to the left while truck is moving greater than 40 mph. Pretty common thing on this style of trans. Trans lube had been mixed in the past (syn and reg lube) leaving a tar-like coating inside trans. Clear water and regular gear lube in trans now, was kind of odd since water and gear lube was separate as it drained and not mixed into a milky paste. Probable trans cooler failure, would have to pressure test cooler to verify. (will be done before truck moves again). Trans level and fluid was checked last week all OK, This was a major concern of mine since there was oil like substance in the coolant when I did the motor mount. We would like to put in a "straight" 10 speed , or even a 13 speed, but cost would be too high at this time (driveshaft length difference one factor). We are continuing to explore all options weighting out time factors, warranties, long term reliability and of course money.

Trans bellhousing is the same. Driveshaft lenght would be different, a few minor air plumbing changes and also needing to be rear shift top cover . Time is a factor, maybe adding another day or two while driveshaft is found or made. -

Well at least we now know what the problem is. Good luck geting it all to work out.
