I am not ignorant. My GF is a trained RN that does testing. Care to match wits with her? Your problem is that it is not just YOUR life, but other lives too. I do care about other people, that is why I wear a mask and carry hand sanitizer with me. I can't stay at home. I have a truck to drive. Since masks can be made of anything right now and there is no one to really test them, then sure, some are not as effective as others. You can't even buy N95 at a decent price right now. But it's all about you and someone stepping on your right to infect other people. I prefer not to be so callous. You do realize for the last 7 days that 1000 people a day have DIED from this virus? So sorry to inconvenience you.

 

Your girlfriend is about as close to being a infectious disease experts as I am. Believe it or not, I know people in the heath care industry as well. Some work in huge hospitals and I've been privy to internal emails about the infection numbers. Weird s@it, huh?

1000 people in 7 days in a country with 300,000,000+ population is a DROP IN THE BUCKET. Close to 8000 people die PER DAY for myriad of reason here in US.

The average age of a person dying form COVID19 is 80+ years old. The mortality rate although not exact is somewhere in the 99%+ or does your RN girlfriend going to teach me about CDC estimates as well?

102 people per day die in vehicle crashes. I guess you're gonna start walking?

Or are you going to look at the risk vs. reward and make a decision to keep driving?

I am just fine. You seem the one that is paranoid about being told to wear a mask. A grown man carrying on like this over a mask......good gosh. But since you think it's OK that people over 80 lead the pack in deaths, and 1000 people a DAY, not a week is just fine, then the only word that comes to mind to describe you would narcissistic. Seriously, you are one scary guy. I would bet my net worth I have done more risky things than you ever have, so save patronizing me with your silly examples. What you fail to mention is that we have over 400,000 cases, and those that survive have a very rough ordeal. This is not the flu. It's much worse. I don't care who you know or what emails you have read. The point is that this thing is contagious, and masks do contain it better than not wearing one. Now if you are going to be a baby about wearing one perhaps you should be the one staying at home. I don't mind wearing one until a vaccine can be found.

 

You are entitled to believe whatever you want, but my GF is a pretty sharp girl. They don't let just anyone test for Covid 19. I see what she goes through every day and the equipment she has to wear. Mask, cap, face shield, gown, two pair of gloves (one pair gets changed every hour). When she gets home she strips off and puts the clothes in the washer and herself in the shower. But she will be the first to admit they do not know everything, and this is an ever-changing virus we have never had to deal with. For months they were sticking swabs way down people's noses. Now they are simply taking throat cultures. I feel they are making progress and learning more each day. There are four pharmaceutical companies working on vaccines as we speak. Some have already started human trials.

And while I may just be a truck driver, I have had experience in transmitted diseases. My ex wife graduated from MTSU with a degree in Microbiology, summa ### laude. She also has a Masters in education. I learned a few things about lab work while with her for 15 years. I am in my 60's, and have seen government corruption since I was born. In this case though I believe this is all real. Of course there is always someone that will make money off other people's misery, but this virus has put this country at a terrible risk of collapse. Businesses are closing permanently every week. People are scraping for money. You have to do what you think is right for you, but I cannot with good conscience risk infecting someone because I am uncomfortable wearing a mask. Good luck with your problems.
