They are called "3 railers", heavy, awkward, and nasty to store neatly. Also, they don't cinch down as well as singles. no state requires them, even CA has what is called "modified max"...single chains on all drive outside tires, and two drag chains. They found that the inside wheel adds little if any to traction when the group has 4 chains working.

Yeah it's US26 all the way from Idahofalls, ID to Ogalalla, NE... I run that route alot in the winter to avoid the craziness known as I-80. Going over Towegotee (where you put your socks on last winter) on US26 can be pretty gnarly sometimes in the winter, but at least there is very little traffic and you dont have to worry about being slammed into by some mega driver.

There are places to stop and sleep. Some pull outs, rest areas and a few fuel places that you could park at. Cattleman listed a few. Otherwise, yes, you’ll need to head back toward I-15. If you go past Arco on 26, it will split, 26 will head more south towards Blackfoot, 20 heads more east to Idaho Falls. KJ’s travel center is on the east side of 15 on 20. It’s not a bad place, mostly locals.

Watch out for the moose herd at the ID/WY border area....about 5-9 miles either side of the border. Clipped my first moose right there back in the last century! messed up passenger mirror real good!

@D.Tibbitt if you stop at that KJs in Idahofalls you need to get some food from the restaraunt... They have AMAZING food. I think dine in is open now too.
