why do drivers cut corners

A lot of activity in this thread in the last few days that I've been gone. OK, I've been on post road many of times, but can't place where 30th. street is. I'm guess that is the intersection in the pic. Is that a concrete median in that picture? Right there where you have your scribbled black line? You can't swing to the left onto the lane to the left... Many do it, but it is considered illegal. You can only use the space directly in your current lane & you can use the on coming traffic lane that your turning into... But if that is indeed a concrete barrier in the middle of the road... But that also looks like a 4 lane road.... So, I'm not sure as to why they are dragging the trailers across the sidewalk....

I wasn't jumping all over him! I'm a natural #######. I just get sick of hearing the new drivers saying they can do this better & do that better.... Then you see them jackknifed in the median just a few miles down the road... We all know they can do that better. Sometimes you have to be hard on the new drivers so they can keep their ####iness in check!

Yes I sure the hell would... You can tell who are the experienced driver's & who isn't... Regardless of age. I sometimes sit in the restaurant & do nothing but shake my head in disbelief... A rookie driver telling a trucker's story & all the other rookie driver's are hanging onto every word because the guy has some Grey hair... So he obviously has to be a old hand!!!

OK.... Seriously. I wasn't attempting to give you a hard time. If it seemed like then, then oh well. I was just trying to knock you down a notch. Just like I said above... Being over confident & comfortable will kill you... I still consider myself a rookie & put myself in predicaments every single day that make me sit & wonder.... "How in the hell am I going to do this or get out of this?"

Another thing to remember.... The experienced drivers who want to see you succeed will be the same driver's who offer assistance & advise. Including knocking you down a notch or two. If you come off with the attitude that "you know it all", then those experienced drivers will back off & allow you to screw up... And hope your not hurting anyone in the process.

You think trucks have 18 brakes or were you just 'messin' ? either way, trucks have 10 brakes, bud.

You will find out in the real world that yard jockey experince helps, but not that much, trust me, i drove a yard jockey before i started driving, you have a idea how to back, now put 12 ft more of truck under you, it will be different, just take your time, good luck

 

Running over a curb is usually caused by starting the turn from too close to the curb. When you've got a right turn coming up start getting over to the left at least 100 ft before. Just don't leave enuf room for DA 4 wheeler to slip in there. Mirrors don't really help alot'cause in a 90 degree turn they're just showing you the side of your sleeper(you do know real trucks don't got rear windows dontcha?).

Shoot, try maneuvering around inside a chemical plant or refinery full of product-carrying pipes. You don't wanna be running over stuff in there.
