cactusjack my friend this is by no means meant to pick an argument wirth you i no what your talking about.
but when it comes to prime consider this. when it comes to PRIME it dosent take much to get a truck , hell they will put you in a truck right out of school no problem.
now think of the guy that just put out all the money for truck driving school and finds himself graduating he need a job bad he has already been raped when he payed for the school and he hears all the hype about prime now you no that prime is going to tell him all about the new truck he is going to get and all the big bucks he is going to make , he dosent no any better so he goes to prime, now it dosent take long for him to realise that he has been had big time and it wont be much longer before he is gone , he has learned BUT one thing he did get some expeirence and that will help him get another job.
so dont be to hard on them everybody has to learn and with prime you can learn quick. o and as far as channel 19 for a channel to argue on hell its been that way for years.
luck to you my friend.----southernpride![]()

NOBODY PUT A GUN TO YOUR HEAD AND MADE YOU SIGN THE LEASE. And it's not Prime's fault that you didn't do your homework to find out if it was a good deal either. Did you take the lease contract to a lawyer before you signed it? I'll bet money right now that you didn't.
Man I rolled when I read this part of that post on this thread. I am sure he didnt take it to a lawyer. I am sure Rob and Shane would have come down and been putting two hands on his back and shovin him out the door tellin him not to come back if he had tried takin that contract out the door to be reviewed. Thats really a slap in the face in the trust bin.
Solo could make money though. Just have to really watch what you do. Getting attitudes with people, especially DM or FM or whatever, going above peoples heads does not help get loads to you and money in your pocket. You then become a burden. And what do you do when you got a burden? You try to eliminate it, weed it out, and get rid of it. Same principal applies to almost any job, in any industry. I can tell the person who originally started this thread saying the truck was not road worthy and what have you probably has a rep as a hothead. Instead of using finese and common sense, he ran his mouth, spit in his phone or someones face while he said what he had to say and pissed a lot of people off in the process. Stepped on toes attached to butts he shoulda been kissing in my opinion. You had a choice of trucks I am sure. Why did YOU pick one that wasnt road worthy? As this poster said, you never did say wat exactly was wrong with the 5th wheel to begin with. For all anybody else knows it was something you said "oh *bleep**bleep**bleep**bleep*" to yourself lookin at it like a dumb*** realizing, "i didnt ever even look at it before i signed, and now its under a load theres space between the trailer and the 5th wheel....oh gees". Not that thats actually what happened, but using that as an example. Not calling you stupid. Lazy, of course. Stupid no. Apparently it was something that you didnt look at before you signed the lease, or something you noticed after getting your first load or whatever. In any case, you must have found out the hardway without looking you are in bad shape. Their "keep an eye on it" your right. It is incredibly stupid. You are driving it. How the hell you gonna do that. But when you shoulda "had an eye on it" (prior to signing the lease and leaving beating on your chest like king kong high on the hog) you apparently had your eyes some place else. Point being from the way it sounds, if it was something you SAW you could have SEEN and NOTICED before it was loaded. But YOU did NOT LOOK at it HARD ENOUGH if you LOOKED at ALL.
For billsgirl, or whoever, If Freightliner wont touch their own #### 5th wheel, whether it be warranty repair or anything else who the hell is supposed to repair it out on the road? I am baffled by your comment to that effect, as well as curious to know the answer. -
Look... everybody has to start somewhere. Prime is one of those places.
From talking with other drivers it's a heck of a lot better than Swift, CRE, CRST, Arrow, Trans Am, JB Hunt, etc...
So, cactusjack, what's your beef with Prime? Did Donny Lacey tell you to go stuff it or something? Yup... on the company side they tell you where to fuel, what your route is going to be, and they give you an APU and tell you to minimize your idle time. So what? Those are their rules for employment.
If you are an independent contractor, you get to independently decide what you are going to do in those areas. I know a lot of folks who made good money leasing from Prime the last few years. I've seen a lot of them go in the last year because freight rates suck. And I don't necessarily agree that leasing is a good way to go, especially right now. But is jumping out of a driving school (because that's the way it's done these days) right into your own authority is downright stupid. You got a better way for someone to start?
Our trucks are limited to 65 because we pull loads in Canada. You take your 75 mph truck up there, and you are risking a rather large fine in Ontario and Quebec.
So what?

This question is directed to those who are unhappy with Prime. Who did you drive for previously... why did you leave... and who are you working for now? If you left a company, obviously you were unhappy there. And where you are working now, is it a lot better? Are you making the big bucks their recruiters promised?
I'm not asking to be confrontational, but simply to gauge how Prime stacks up against the other larger carriers.cactusjack Thanks this. -
i appreciate your questions and will not go into where i am now or where i have been .... as far as prime there is ample threads good and bad.... you will notice a trend the newbies singing the praises and the experienced truckers with major issues.... you be the judge... to me that is an major red flag.... but if you want to use prime as an spring board company into trucking coming from something else they may be your best bet out of the other spring board companies..... alot of us experienced hands have problems with these spring board companies and their methods of business that are actually hurting us drivers. i will not go into details but research the threads on newbies and politics as well as primes dac report you will find all in there.... and alot of argumentation along the way.... which is helpful to a point.... there are many blogs on and off this site which you might feel helpful.... just use your search engines you will find all there.
as for me i have made no less then 72 K per year in the last 9 years and have either had an ungoverned or had an truck that would go 75 MPH and any of these jobs were no where near an big spring board company... as an new driver you might as well forget any company like that.... unless you know an o/o that will take you under his / her wings.... the spring board companies get 700 an week from the government to put another driver off of unemployment/ welfare into an truck "tax free" then the driver / student might get lucky to get paid 400 an week of course they are taxed on that amount. now the company just made 300 tax free dollars . Then the company takes the trainer which is just 90 days out of training and puts him/her in charge of another trainee and off they go running team.... an very unsafe practice which jacks up insurance rates for the rest of us..... my preferrance is to be in the seat next to the trainee and not be in the bunk for all training miles the student is putting on for safety sake and mabey these companies do have that as an policy but i can honestly say not many practice what they preach. i can keep going on and on but wont happy researching and thank you for your post!
