Few years back I went to a junk yard by Seguin Tx. and the yard guys had a bbq pit going. They had pulled a car out of a row to pull a transmission and found a nest of Rattlers. They had a great lunch that day.

That is why when you go deer hunting or exploring you always take a 12 ga. and/or a side arm pistola. Also because some Coyotes and wild hogs will mess with you if you have fresh dead meat nearby.

They are all over Tx, but also the west coast, mountains and desert. Actually every state but more so rural areas. I've seen a few in person almost stepped on one in San Diego . Be very careful, They will camaflouge themselves and blend in with landscape. They can climb trees and vehicles. Cats are good deterents. Dogs are dumb, not enough sense to back away.

@Canadian_Trucker. We got millions of these little “Alligator lizard” guys around here. Aka Southern prairie lizards. Texas State Wildlife says they can get up to 24 inches long in the Big Bend area but the biggest ones around my place are 10 or 11 in. They are cool. They just hang out and watch you. The dogs like to chase them and then spend all day digging around the last place they seen them disappear.
East Texas does have Alligators. They have been seen as far West as San Antonio once in a while.

A type of wasp with a scorpion like sting.
I got 2 stings this last Sat going into one of my parts storage trailers. Nest was hidden pretty good under an old shop compressor tank. Moved by it with my back to it and bam they got me right under my right shoulder blade. Ice pack on it and a bynadryl pill. All good the next day no evidence.
They can have dozens on one nest.

I mowed over a nest by accident one time. Not fun. I jumped off with it still running full on sprint. Ripped off my shirt because they got up under it. Immediately ate 4 Benadryl

Then started having a panic attack because I didn't know if a dozen + stings was gonna hurt me or not

I work every night hauling oil from leases in West Texas. In three years I've seen one rattlesnake. What's much more common is the scorpions and tarantulas. Under a black light, scorpions glow in the dark at night but unless you're walking around barefoot, you don't need to worry about either of them. Keep situationally aware and you'll be fine. Rattlers aren't going to chase you down.
