So I just bought a truck that I’m going to be driving about 6 months from now. I’m going to be needing to drive it around my city to certain mechanics to do things that need to be done. I currently have no signs or a DOT numbers on it and i won’t even be hooking up a trailer to it.
I have insurance but I haven’t “registered” it because I’d need to show that it’s leased to some company to get the cab card registration. I’m in Georgia and I’m wondering what is my best option to be able to drive this legally?
Using truck with no signs only bobtail.

To make that thing driveable down the road without numbers on the side of the door you need an Inspection sticker, IFTA sticker, Plates, Registration, and Insurance. -
-
In order to obtain IFTA, Registration, Inspection, and Plates you either have to apply for IRP in your DOT number or use the companies DOT number your leasing to. Since you don't have a company your leasing to at this current moment you can try to apply for a temporary registration but those are only good for like 10 days not 6 months. -
Do I need to have full active authority to be able to get registration and IFTA stickers? I can’t just get a USDOT # and have it be inactive? -
Don't you have a buddy or something you use his DOT# temporarily just to get a plate. -

There is your information.
A hunter permit is for driving a truck without a trailer or load.
You can legally drive your truck to get mechanic work accomplished. Not to work the truck.
