To be honest, if I was driving for a living I would have an Amateur Radio and a CB Radio setup in my rig..

I don't think they will phase it out down here there all about anything to line the pockets of the politicians, But there really isn't any god reason why most business would need GMRS, well maybe local coverage. I just set up a small 4 freq, GMRS repeater system for a fro=iend of mine business, but its not for wide area, it is being used for on site coverage, grounds keepers, security etc.. and I set them up also with Motorola MotoTurbo for there wide area coverage. I don't really do this anymore, but was able to get them some good deal =s from the people at Radiowave in Burbank.

So I don't see GMRS being a good option for individual drivers, HAM radio is a fairly good choice, and its our amateur channels there trying to relocate. We need them used. With Echo-link and other options HAM radio chan be a decent option. And no code makes it easier.

A driver communicating in a non business manor is just fine, you can have a HAM radio in your business and still use it for personal. I carry several radios with me company truck or not.

I have an SX64 in the garage still. Wonder if it still boots, bet it does. Also have an old Atari, and several IBM XT's and AT's complete with green screens.

I still have my old Apple II+ and all the 5" floppy disks full of pirated games. Most still boot. I should do a YouTube video of it. I had the AppleCat Modem with all the tools for Phone Phreaking too! ;)

I don't see where a Jeep Club and what type of radios they have use promote have anything to do with trucking or for that matter C.B.s. Besides that there isn't that much chatter on the radio these days except for local drivers talking to each other and a few base stations. A lot of OTR drivers only have backup radios. Another words they only turn them on when they hit a backup in traffic. JMHO
