HELP, steering shaft will not slide into housing

I do find it odd that it would be rusted that bad. The outer shaft is on the up hill side so it's not.like water would be pouring in there and rusting. Obviously is can still worknits way up but..
I dunno man hard to know without being there but if you got it to move one direction you outta be able to get it to move the other. Just keep working it back and forthRideandrepair Thanks this. -

my brother came over, he is the mechanic. We heated up the housing with a map torch, then he put a big vice grip on the end and beat it out. then deburred the end and greased the inside and the rod and basically almost hammered back in. Somehow it moves now (barely?) but it moves and the steering works great. He even saw the pin(?) holding the ujoint had come out and he somehow fixed the ujoint. All seems well but man that thing was STUCK!! so heat, vice grip, a mallet, grease, and pb blast did the trick.
