You could make a low offer ,like 5 grand, see what the owner says.
If he accepts...fine ,if not walk away.

I'm a little late. That vintage of trailer will be consider the big Bubba model so it has a great frame 60,000 in 4ft or 100,000 over the whole trailer. That trailer when new was a prime flatbed. Looks like someone already moved the axles to the rear. They were set forward when new. Thats why there a bolts in the frame infront of each axle. Looks like at least 4 new panels on the rear need to be replaced to make it look good. Check the kingpin plate. Might have been replaced already once. I think the replacement is around 2500. Check the suspension boxes for corrosion. Not that big of a deal to drop them and clean and straighten if need be.

I don't know if you get around Gary Indiana much but Darren at Wayne's tank and trailer which is a authorized reitnouer repair shop Has ex maverick reitnouers for sale. I think for around 11,000. They rebuild them so should be good units.

Think i'm going to pull the trigger on a 08 Fontaine Phantom - the man with that covered wagon has gone radio silent on me anyways. I'll finance more than I need to so there's budget for any repairs.

Thanks everybody for your input - it's greatly appreciated

Crawl under that Phantom and check the welds at the crossmembers for cracks. I had an 06 Phantom that the welds were too thin from the factory. Once they were rewelded they were fine but I had get get new cracks welded about every year. Other than that it wasnt a bad trailer.
