Should I get an eld?

    Depends on what you plan on doing with the truck.

    I wouldn't unless I had too. But that's me.

    We don't have em where I'm working now.

    Some more info would be helpful here. We're not mind readers. Details? Local exempt 100 air miles (soon to be 150 at end of September)

    There really is no in between you are compliant with 2000 or newer or run 1999 or older if you still want paper.

    You haven't supplied enough details. If your tuck is not eld exempt and you don’t have an eld, then you will face big fines and be put out of service until you are in compliance. If you live in or run to California then you need truck thats in compliance with their emissions laws which will be an eld required truck.

    If you have the choice between a truck that can legally be eld exempt then in my opinion I would choose being eld exempt

    Why is it even a question? Running paper is the same as running an ELD if you plan on running legal. If you aren't planning on running legal, you need not be in the business anyway.

    I have a 2000 truck, built with a 1999 engine, but currently has a 1994 block built to 2000 specs. Think i can fly?
