How wide should spaces be?

12 at a mimimum. That should give 4 ft of space between trucks if they are dead center of each space. Perfect breathing room. Think of all the times tires need to be serviced and it is too cramped to work next to another parked unit. Doors can be swung open without hitting anyone else as well.

 

Narrower spaces equals more spaces.

 

And more crashes for the not so skilled drivers

 

I like the wider 12 foot spaces when isles are 60 feet apart. There will usually be some trucks not backed all the way in or long due to axle spacing. The extra room is welcome when backing in after a long shift.

If there is roughly 70 or more feet or more between the isles, the spaces should be narrower to accommodate more trucks.

 

The best truck stops are the ones with no spaces... more for me.... But really i cant stand the narrow spaces. Some are so close together i cant even get my winch bar in to tighten my straps

Most of my favorite stops dont have lines painted... Or even asphalt for that matter. My experience with lots that have no lines means that guys generally park pretty tightly together... Where as sometimes at stops that have lines painted, there are some idiots that park right on the line leaving thier mirrors overhanging the spots between them. Thereby making it impossible to back in without takeing off their mirrors.

 

Y'all do realize that if the Peelot makes the spaces wider, they'll lose parking capacity. And to make up for the lost revenue, they'll just charge for parking.

Oh wait, they already do that.

Next will be a rain tax for the spot you occupy.

If you care about the drivers? 12 feet. If you're just worried about packing more sardines in the can, 10 feet exactly.
