Been living and working overseas ( no military ) for the last 5 years. Now I'm back and trying to get hired into any company paid training program. I do have cdl B.
Looks like mission impossible especially for a Fl resident. Besides the obvious fact that no HR wants to deal with these overseas years , I was told by a recruiter ( only 1 company out of 3 that told that they do hire out of Northern FL responded to my applications ) that since I do allready own Cdl B that has't been used in my home state for the past 3 years, then DOT will not approve me for a Cdl A training/employment.
So my question: Is that a true fact about current CDL B not being used for 3 years makes me a complete no-hire for company sponsored training/employment? Does it mean that even if I do get training on my own and obtain Cdl A, that would be complete waste, since I still be unhirable? By the way, how deep these large companies dig into verifing past employment?

Someone is giving you incorrect information.
You're hirable. Many drivers on this forum have lived overseas for a few years, including me, and had no problem being hired.
Where is your domicile; address on your CDL-B?
Don't need your street address, just which state and nearest city are you in.
Trucking companies go by the address on your drivers license to determine if you're in their hiring area.Last edited: Aug 24, 2020

My point is not to pat myself on the back, it's to let the OP know that just because you don't show in a companies hiring area don't think that automatically bars you from employment there.NikSolanke Thanks this.
