Must have only kicked Swift out in some places. See them yanking Walmart trailers (mostly reefer) around the Marcy, NY DC.

Most of the DCs I’ve been to it’s Swift,US Xpress,Schneider or CR England, with the Walmart private fleet mixed in on occasion. I know we pull at the following DCs:
Tomah,WI
Clarksville,AR
Shelbyville,TN
New Albany,MS
Wintersville,OH -
It's all private fleet at Gas City Indiana now, as well as Washington Courthouse Ohio. They kicked U.S. Xpress out of Gas City and Schneider out of Courthouse.
mjd4277 Thanks this. -
I can vouch for that. I was just at Washington CH 3 days ago. Sure enough,no more “Big Pumpkins” around. We also took over at Wintersville when they walked away from that one.slim6596 Thanks this.

Oh no...they can ask for phone records anytime they want...just ask managers.
-
I am more worried that if they get enough new hires, they will let the older higher paid drivers go the same way they did the office help. they did not cut down on staff, just the older higher paid staff. Smith wanted to take the fleet entirely contracted out but higher ups shut him down....for now.

Any transportation dept associates at home office hit with layoffs reading this?
-
1) Perhaps, in the long run, Walmart, along with other companies with their own private fleets, as Tyson Foods out of Springdale Arkansas, could POTENTIALLY end up getting rid of all their trucks, along with their transportation & safety departments. The companies would end up saving thousands, if not millions of dollars in the long run.
2) Walmart would then be SOLELY back in the retail business, Tyson Foods would be SOLELY back in the beef & poultry business, other companies would solely be back in their particular lines of work.
3) The contracted trucking companies would be the ones handling the trucking needs and services of various companies that need their products shipped out, since this is their SOLE line of work.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.! -
O
It’s not always cheaper to sub contract, that’s why amazon is building their own fleet. -
I believe Amazon's fleet is actually going to be the same model as FedEx Ground with all those vehicles owned/leased by sub contractors who will then hire the various drivers to perform the work. No one will be an Amazon employee.drvrtech77 and kemosabi49 Thank this.
